Rebecca is growing up in New York City in the early 1900s. She's an American Girl of Russian-Jewish decent.She is an 18" doll with wavy honey-brown hair and hazel eyes. Rebecca comes dressed in red herringbone dress with velveteen cuffs & collar, white bloomers, black stockings, and two-tone boots. Her accessories include a black velveteen hat trimmed with floral ribbon, a Russian shawl, and a rabbit pin.
Spirited and outgoing, Rebecca loves attention and loves to entertain an audience. She is often bubbling over with ideas that sometimes veer off in wild directions, but don't underestimate her! Rebecca often finds herself torn between what other people say she should do or be and what she feels in her heart.

There is a whole new selection for American Girl Just Like You dolls. They've got a new outfit and now have the option of having their ears pierced!Like the previous Just Like You dolls they are 18" tall with a soft cloth body, and movable head & limbs are made of smooth vinyl. They each come with a book and the Star Hoodie Outfit. There are 24 different dolls to choose from with every hair color and eye color, and skin tone.

Ruthie Smithens
Ruthie Smithens is the second Historical Doll of the 1930s.She is an 18" doll with wavy dark brown hair and gray eyes. Ruthie comes dressed in a floral dress with puffed sleeves, white cotton bloomers, light blue patterned socks, black shoes, and a purple hairbow. Her accessories include a black purse with a front pocket and silver-colored clasp, a pretend watch with hands that move, a handkerchief printed with flowers, and two rose-shaped barrettes to style her hair.
Ruthie is Kit Kittredge's best friend. She is loyal, understanding, and generous. In her book Really Truly Ruthie, she tries to help Kit, whose family is struggling through the Great Depression. When Ruthie learns that the Kittredges are having trouble paying the mortgage on their house, she decides to find a way to reach Kit's Aunt Millie.

Julie Albright is the first Historical Doll of the 1970s.She is an 18" doll with Long, straight blond hair with a single braid and brown eyes. Julie comes dressed in a crinkle-gauze peasant blouse over a turtleneck, two-tone bell-bottom jeans, butterfly screen-printed underwear, platform sandals and a braided beaded belt. Her accessories include a crocheted cap, a shiny gold necklace with a "Julie" name charm, a faux-suede purse with printed flower detail, and a pretend Bicentennial quarter.
Julie doesn't want to move away from her San Francisco neighborhood near Chinatown, even if she'll only be a few miles away. Moving means leaving her best friend, her pet rabbit, and worst of all, it means leaving her Dad. After her parents' divorce, Julie tries to make the best of her new situation.

Ivy Ling is the second Historical Doll of the 1970s.She is an 18" doll with straight black hair and dark brown eyes. Ivy comes dressed in a knit cowl-neck top, twill pants with contrast stitching, rainbow-printed underwear, tan western-style boots with decorative top-stitching, and gold earrings. Her accessories include a denim bag made from worn-out blue jeans and personalized with patches, a pair of gold-toned chandelier earrings, a raspberry colored beret, and a replica of an ancient Chinese coin for good luck.
Ivy is Julie Albright's best friend. She is the middle child in a Chinese American family whose been feeling alone lately. Her mother is in school, her father is working two jobs, and to make things worse, Julie has moved to another part of town. The only place she feels at home is at gymnastics. In her book Good Luck, Ivy, a big gymnastics tournament is scheduled for the same day as their annual family reunion, and she has a difficult decision to make.

Not entirely sure how I feel about the 70s being represented by a "historical" doll. I'm not quite ready to feel old. :-) Oh, and Megan McDonald, who wrote the Julie books, also wrote the Judy Moody series, which I have a lens on. Quite a different set of stories, though.
