Welcome to my Squidoo page about the new MINI range. This page offers a pretty brief, but hopefully helpful overview of the new MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S, MINI Cooper D, MINI Clubman and MINI Convertible, not to mention upcoming MINI models. I created this page as I wanted to try out the website, and other MINI related pages seemed a bit thin on the ground, and lacking any real content.
I'm a big MINI fan, coming from a background of owning several classic Minis, I purchased my first new MINI Cooper in 2002, after setting up MINI2 in 2001, which would go on to become the World's largest online MINI community.
Since then I have owned a number of new MINIs, and also started a new MINI website featuring MINI news, reviews, views, opinions, and interviews called theSwitchback, which hopefully will fill a demand for UK based MINI news and information.
I've tried to include as many modules as I feel are relevant to this squidoo lens on the MINI, there are probably going to be many updates, certain as the MINI range continues to develop and expand, and probably as I get to grips with the technology here as well!

For the new MINI Cooper there are a few websites available offering a great deal of information and opinions, including the MINI2 forums and MotoringFile, but our own website is hopefully going to prove a hit with other MINI fans too.

Photographs of the new MINI Convertible, MINI Clubman and Hatchback variants. The photographs of the new MINI featured above were taken in various locations for reviews on two new MINI websites, MINI2.com and theSwitchback.com, MINI2 features the World's largest online MINI community from around the globe, and theSwitchback features MINI news, reviews and information, based in the UK, but tailored for a World Wide audience. The new MINI Convertible photographs were taken in Austria at the International launch of the new MINI Convertible, the MINI Cooper D Clubman was taken with a test vehicle in the UK, the MINI Cooper S Clubman was photographed in Spain at the International launch of that particular MINI, and the MINI Cooper S photograph was taken in the UK.

This video of a mellow yellow MINI Cooper S was shot not long after the release of the R56, second generation MINI for MINI2.com. The MINI shown is of course the MINI Cooper S version of the R56, and the video was filmed around the Mid-Bedfordshire countryside in the UK, using an ageing Cannon hand held camera. Hopefully this video shows some of the features of the new MINI well, and the sound of the MINI exhaust rumbling and burbling is pretty good too I think. The roads were wet and the weather wasn't great for driving a MINI, but all in all I think I made a good hash of completing the film with no help whatsoever. A certain amount of trust is involved when filming solo, as you have to leave the video equipment unguarded at the roadside while you cruise by in the MINI!

There are a tonne of new MINI related books, many cover the history of the marque, others cover the transition from Rover to BMW, and the matters concerning that, including the interesting Anglo-German relationships. For MINI fans these make good reading, I've tried to select a wide range of MINI Cooper related books, which include service manuals, which are of course a great resource for any MINI owner, even if you're timid with regard to DIY, a well as some new MINI reference books, which focus on the history of the new MINI, including interviews with the people who worked behind the scenes at BMW, Rover, and other companies offering their view on the evolution and design of the new MINI.
