I think that I have traveled the world simply by visiting the articles here at Squidoo. I love your photographs and especially the Iron Building. New York is so old that the historic buildings really fascinate me. I so enjoyed my trip to New York as seen through your eyes. Best of wishes.

I love going to NY in the winter. My wife and I take the whole family to New York for a two night stay. We usually go to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas Spectacular show. Aside from that you can't beat the restaurants and the vendors on the street. It's fun just walking around and taking in all the sites. We take the train in from the East Coast and end up in Grand Central Station. Then it's time to catch a cab.

Enjoyed viewing the photo gallery...brought back a lot of fond memories of my stay in New York City while attending Parsons The New School For Design which was locate then in Greenwich Village at 6 Fifth Ave adjacent to Washington Square Park.

New York is indeed one of the great cosmpolitan centers of the world. Paris, London, Rome, and Sidney are synonymous the arts, shopping and entertainment.

What a great Lens. New York is a place I have wanted to visit for some time and we plan to do this later on. We would love to see a New York Christmas...

I was born and partially raised in New York, so it is a place that is very familiar to me. I was touched by your thoughts as you related how you and Tony felt at ground zero. I remember in 1979 or 80, I was on the 86th floor working. I was an engineer and we were laughing at the speed at which the window washer was doing his work. Most of those people were still there in 2001 and now they are gone. I have no words for how I felt when I first heard the terrible news. Thanks for visiting and appreciating my hometown, the skyline will be even more beautiful in the coming years. I hope I'm around to see the results. See you around the galaxy...

How absolutely delightful, thanks for sharing your experience of a life time with its ups and downs and I love your collaboration here. Fun and touritsy pictures along the way, I especially like you on top of the world. The bus ride with the other idiots is probably my favorite event, we don't get to belly laugh that often!

I was laughing so hard I was crying when reading about the bus and rain. You do have a talent for writing and I can understand the purple star. You both are deserving. I really enjoyed taking your weekend break in New York City with the two of you. I am leaving you with a Squid Angel blessing and added your link to My Squid Angel Wings to be featured in your "Travel & Places" neighborhood.

I wonder if I have the courage to drive through New York with my 3 kids. We're staying in New Jersey for a night and planned to cross over to Long Island, spend the day before taking a ferry off Long Island, en route to Cape Cod. Now, I am not so sure. It sounds scary. Is worse than driving through the interstates in Chicago? I've done that...

It's interesting hearing two voices on a lens but I enjoyed it.
  • ChrisDay May 28, 2011 @ 4:02 am | delete
Wow - great lens. I had a short stay in NY en route to a lecture commitment - missed most of the places I'd like to see, of course.
  • LondonWanderer Apr 18, 2011 @ 9:27 am | delete
That was an exemplary lens: Unique, personal, well written, and the double perspective was really engaging. I've passed it on to my sister and her husband who are visiting NY later in the year. Thank you both.

Great lens on NY the Big Apple! Come see our city! "New York City Walking Tours"
  • Uncle Sam Jul 21, 2010 @ 8:48 am | delete
I also visited New York, but it was a short, way too short visit. I took a couple of walking tours, which I strongly recommend, but still I feel I missed a lot of landmarks. The funny thing about New York is that it has so much to offer in so many ways, that it might be impossible for a tourist to get to see the whole city
  • Uncle Sam Jul 21, 2010 @ 8:40 am | delete
Took a few walking tours in NY, I didn't want to miss the small things there. It's a great city, and as alert as it is, the cool thing about it is that you always can find your oasis of silence :)

You've inspired me. This is a great lens. It has so much punch! I like the way you wove your story...first in one voice, then another. I also like the way you alternated text and pictures. The whole lens comes together like a chain with events linking from one to the next, just as if we were sitting in a pub talking about your trip and the two of you were showing us pictures as you told us travel tips. May you have many more trips together (grin)!

I haven't been to NYC for 27 years, and that was on business and we got snowed in and had to sleep in the airport. I guess we did see a good show, though, and ate at Smith and Wollensky's, the original one. Your lens is outstanding and makes me want to go back and follow your advice all the way!

Great lens you two! Wonderful to read your personal experiences of New York and some useful tips for any visitor to bear in mind. Great photos of New York. I love the photos of you together there. You even looked happy while "singing in the rain" :) 5 stars!
