From the Evolution of Mario to the Nintendo Wee
The evolution of Mario has continued to enjoy success with its legions of fans for decades. In 1981, video gamers were introduced to the Super Mario Brothers and game play as we knew it changed forever. The first Super Mario Brothers game was quickly followed with parts two and three and as the Nintendo game console underwent technological advancements and changes, so did the Mario Brothers. Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island introduced gamers to new worlds and characters. Even the layout and design was different. This time players could see a map version of the levels and plot their way from one level to another. Unlike the older Mario video games, where if you died in a level you had to start all over, this new version saved your progress, which meant you could turn off the game and come back to it and pick up where you left off.
