Come Explore Noadi's Art Original Fantasy Sculpture

Noadi's Art is my little world of fantasy art.  Mainly I'm a sculptor though I do dabble in other mediums.  Fantasy gives me such a range of subjects to explore so I've sculpted everything from fairies to gods to octopuppies in jars.  While the main material in my sculptures is polymer clay I define my work as mixed media, if a material catches my eye I'll find a way to use it. I hope you like my work and by all means let me know whatever your opinion is.

About Noadi's Art

I'm a 26-year-old artist from the mountains of western Maine. I've been interested in fantasy since the first fairy tales I ever read as a kid. Being a fantasy artist gives me the freedom to explore anything and everything that interests me since there are no real rules or limitations to the genre.

A few of my sculptures.

Click the pictures to go to the larger versions on my website.

Squid - I love cephalopods.

*****

Hatching Turtle - Baby turtle hatching out of his shell. Sculpted from super sculpey and painted in acrylics, he's 2 inches long.

*****

Octopuppy - Baby octopus in a jar. This cutey is super sculpey as is the lid of his jar, painted in acrylics, real rocks and shell inside thejar, the "water" is a clear acrylic gel resin. The jar is 6inches tall, the octopuppy itself is only around 2.5 inches at the widest point between tentacles.

*****

An tEach Uisce - Also known as a kelpie, these water demons would drag young men to their deaths beneath the water. This piece is about 6 inches tall and 9 inches long, it's made primarily of super sculpey painted in acrylics, the mane and tail are cold porcelain.

*****

Geisha Fairy - This was my very first commissioned sculpture, I'm quite happy with how she turned out and so is her owner. She's sculpted from super sculpey, painted with acrylics and decorated with beads and cold porcelain flowers.

*****

Satyr - This is my first successful male sculpture so I'm pretty proud of him right now, he happens to be anatomically correct though that's not clear in the photos. He's super sculpey painted in acrylics, the base is wood. He's 8 inches tall reclined, if standing he would be 12 inches tall.

*****

Mermaid Bust - This is an older sculpture of mine but still one of my favorites. I've never been satisfied with the traditional image of the mermaid, I wanted to come up with something that made a little more sense in an aquatic environment. At some point I'd like to continue this idea by doing a full body sculpture.

Odin's Runesong

One of a Kind Mixed Media Sculpture

After 9 months (which I think makes it my baby) I've finally completed this sculpture. It's based off Norse Mythology and the poem from the Elder Edda which tells of how Odin hung for 9 days and nights on the world tree Yggdrasil to learn the secret of the runes. My take on this is as a resurrection suspension with the branches of the tree piercing Odin's chest.

Total heights of the sculpture is 26 inches, Odin would stand 12 inches tall if her were standing upright. This is sculpting primarily of polymer clay over wire armatures, the base also has a layer of plaster over it to add texture, and the leaves are made of cold porcelain (a cornstarch based air dry clay).

Clicking the picture will take you to Odin's Runesong on my website which has the full sized photos.

Odin's Runesong won the Honorable Mention Award at the Norway Sidewalk Art Show in Norway, Maine, on July 12th, 2008.

Commissioning a Sculpture From Noadi's Art

I do a small number of commissions, custom sculptures take quite a while to finish so I don't have the time to produce more than a couple commissions at a time. Sadly this means I may have to refuse commissions if I don't have the time for them, however I will always finish a commission once I have accepted one so if you get on the list your sculpture is assured. Just email me at noadiart@gmail.com. Please include "art commission" in the subject so I don't accidentally delete it so we can discuss details.

Before you contact me: Have a description of what you want, size that you wish (please note I don't work larger than 24 inches tall), and any sketches or photos ready. I don't do any work based on celebrities or tv/movie characters due to copyright and trademark issues. I will do literary characters as long as you don't want another artist's version of the character reproduced. I'm more than willing to do portraits of you, family, friends or pets (for portraits I need to either meet with the subject for a sitting or receive multiple photographs from different angles to work from).
*I currently have no ongoing commissions so I'm open to others right now.*

From the pictures of your sculptures, I see you are quite talented. You have done some really intricate things. Congratulations on your talented renderings. My area of sculpture is earth art. That means I actually sculpt the earth. It is on a rather larger scale (5 1/2 acres)on a non-profit fish farm. I'm really a newbe on squidoo but will be adding pictures of my work to my lens soon.
