How to Have an Iphone Without the Data Plan

If you dont have an iphone already than the cheapest place to buy one would most likely be on ebay. You can get iphones for pretty cheap ESSPECIALLY if you dont mind a slight crack in the screen. (You can get perfect working iphones with slight cracks in their screens for under $90).

You must jailbreak and unlock your iphone. There are various videos on youtube that can help you easily jailbreak and unlock it. You use a simple program that jailbreaks and unlocks your Iphone for you. With a jailbreak you will also be allowed to get apps that would normally cost money for free and you can customize your iphone completely (change the way the icons look ect.) With your Iphone Unlocked you will be able to use your iphone one all other carriers (All tel, Verison, T-mobil,ect. Below is a picture of some possibilities of a jailbroken iphone) Read on...

Once you have your Iphone Jailbroken and unlocked setup your iphone in Itunes but DO NOT register it. Here's where getting out of the data plan begins. IF you bought a used iphone off ebay than its easy, read the following steps. If you already have an iphone, scroll down more.

1. Call ATT or your carrier and tell them to put a block on ALL internet and data usage. They will say no problem and block all charges.So if you accidentally hit safari you wont be charged per kb.

2. Take your used iphone and put your simcard in (goes in top part of iphone, push paper clip in tiny hole and the simcard tray pops out).

3. Now for extra protection.. Next you must download somethign called "Sb Settings" from the cydia icon on your now jailbroken Iphone) once you download it slide your finger accross the top of the screen to open it. then go to "more", "set toggles" and then turn edge and 3g OFF! Then go to http://www.unlockit.co.nz/ on your iphone (while connected to wifi) and click the botton that lets you change your APN.

The last step is for back up so there is NOO possible way you can get billed for the data.

Than do the same steps except when you call att you must tell them that you're no longer planning to use it so you don't need the data plan but would like to keep the service on a basic service.The rep will ask you for the serial number of your other phone. Give them that.They'll then ask you to take the SIM card out of the iPhone and put it into the other phone. Do that and then tell them to cancel all interent usage.

After you hang up then put the sim card back into the iphone and go to step 3.

Once you have done the above steps you should now have an Iphone WITHOUT having to pay for a data plan. Ive been using my iphone without a data plan for 4 months now with absolutely no problems!
