The Beginning
June 1, 1926 - August 5, 1962

Because of circumstances that were beyond her control, Norma Jean spent most of her childhood in different foster homes and because she did not have the normal Mom and Dad, Norma Jean believed that she was unloved and unwanted. These feelings of inadequency followed her throughout her entire life.
Norma was an uncommonly beautiful young girl and her beauty and grace led to a career in modeling that ultimately led to movies and a film contract as Marilyn Moneor, when she was 20 years old. The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve were Marilyn's first big hits, even though she had a few minor roles before these films were in 1950.

My Story: Illustrated Edition
by Marilyn Monroe
Little known and long unavailable, this autobiography, written by actress and starlet Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962), describes her early adolescence, her rise in the film industry from bit player to celebrity, and her marriage to Joe DiMaggio. In this personal account of a very public life, she tells of her first (non-consensual) sexual experience, her romance with the Yankee Clipper, and her prescient vision of herself as the kind of girl they found dead in the hall bedroom with an empty bottle of sleeping pills in her hand. Goodby, Norma Jean!

- Looking at pictures of Norma Jean makes you feel like she might live right next door and might even bring over a pie, I guess we think of Marilyn Monroe more along the lines of cheese cake.
