I'M MAKING POVERTY HISTORY

In December 2006 I ran my first marathon in Honolulu and I did a fundraiser for Keep A Child Alive. Thanks to the support of many amongst friends and family, more than $1700 were donated to this non-profit organization (more info below).

This next July 29th I will run my second marathon in San Francisco and I will run again for Keep A Child Alive. Please take a minute to check out my fundraising page (http://www.firstgiving.com/runforinspiration). Any donation that you can make, regardless of the amount, will motivate me to finish those 26 miles in San Francisco. Many thanks for your support; and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Have a Beautiful Day!

Hans

KEEP A CHILD ALIVE is an urgent response to the AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa. With 28 million already dead, the disease continues, wiping out whole societies, threatening economic infrastructure and creating tragic devastation in the family structure.

TREATMENT: Anti-retroviral (ARV) treatment has transformed the lives of people with AIDS in the West, returning them from sickness to health. But less than 5% of children with AIDS have access to these life-saving drugs.

CARE: Keep a Child Alive provides medical services needed to make treatment possible. Doctors, nutrition, testing, transportation, and treatment for opportunistic infections are all necessary for anti-retroviral treatment to be successful. When necessary, KCA also provides nutrition for its patients.

ORPHANS: Currently 14 million children have lost one or both parents to AIDS, and by 2010 the number is expected to reach 25 million. These children will face enormous risks in their struggle to stay alive. Keep a Child Alive builds and sustains orphanages to keep the most vulnerable children out of harm's way. Orphanages are a last resort, but necessary when children have no extended family to turn to for support.

WHY I SUPPORT THE ONE CAMPAIGN

I support the ONE campaign because I believe it is time to take responsibility and help our fellow human beings who are living in extreme poverty.

I'm running marathons and doing fundraisers to support the ONE partner organization Keep A Child Alive.

Wishing you well,

Hans

(RED) BLOG
(RED) was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver, Chairman of DATA, to raise awareness and money for The Global Fund by teaming up with the world's most iconic brands to produce (PRODUCT) RED-branded products. A percentage of each (PRODUCT) RED product sold is given to The Global Fund. The money helps women and children with HIV/AIDS in Africa.
