Obsessive Compulsive Behavior - Beat Obsessions with this plan
Obsessive compulsive behavior can be very challenging for individuals who have no idea about OCD or what is happening in their minds. I would recommend for those individuals to do their due diligence and get as much information as they can about OCD so that they can develop a more brave attitude concerning it and also so that they can handle it a lot easier. If you are more brave toward your OCD, you will not suffer as much as most people do with it. When you have an obsessive thought, you should not try to sit there and fight it. When you fight your own thoughts, is there any way that you can become the winner? When you focus and focus on your obsessions, they persist more strongly.
In the process of wrestling with your own thoughts in your mind, you actually make them stronger by placing your focus on them. When you try to divert your mind away from one thought, it actually becomes harder to shed that thought that you are trying to get rid of. If you keep this in mind, you can recall to not focus on these types of thoughts when they come up. You need to know that Obsessive compulsive behavior is not caused by any mental handicap.
There is no solid evidence indicating that there is any physical difference in the brain of a person with obsessive compulsive disorder as opposed to someone without OCD. It's just not there. Just like someone that struggles with nail biting or rocking, it's just a habit and is not the product of a deformity or a malady. If you learn to redirect your mind from obsessive thoughts, you will be well on your way to becoming OCD free. Diversion is the key to controlling your own focus. When we have an idea come out of nowhere into our heads, we can't control that. We can focus on what we choose too though.
When you limit your beliefs to the notion that you cannot control your thoughts, there really is nothing that you can do. No, you must rise above this belief, strip it from your mind and start to take on a new belief. A belief of hope and a belief that you can and will control how you think and what you focus on. I promise you, if you will do this, your outcome will do a complete 180 and you'll be able to for the first time, taste what mental freedom is all about. It takes patience on your part and persistence, but if you are willing to stick to it and stick with it, you cannot fail.
When you look at these principles and design a game plan for yourself with them, you will no doubt, have an easier time becoming OCD free and not just temporary but for life. Take out a piece of paper or computer word document and write out what you are afraid of and then make a plan for how you are going to face these various challenges. Give yourself enough time, but not too much. The more time we have, the less things we get done. Don't wait for someone to come and walk you through everything. Go out there and get the information you need and do it. Don't teach yourself to rely on others, but rely on God and on yourself.
Take action: What you want to do at this particular point is to write down what kind of thoughts that you wish that you had during the day and just commit to yourself that you will have these thoughts. After all, it is a choice and you can do it! You just gotta believe in yourself. Practice makes perfect and decide to have the kind of thought life that you want, period!
