What is Occupy the City and how does it Work?
Occupy the City is a group of network marketing professionals that work together for the common good of all in the network. What makes Occupy the City different? Consider the following:1) Occupy the City recognizes that everyone has something to contribute to making a business work, but few people are good enough at everything to be successful in business all by themselves. To have a successful business, you need to be able to generate a consistent flow of leads - people interested in hearing about your business, develop a level of trust and relationship with these people, close them on becoming your business associates, and get them to duplicate this same process. Simple, but not easy.
2) Why not create a division of labor like a Fortune 500 company in your network marketing business? Some people are great at marketing and generating leads. Some are great at sales and converting a lead into a new business associate. Some are great at mentoring. Why not let people focus on what they are good at? This is what Occupy the City does. Each member contributes time to build their business, and by default, the Occupy the City community based on what they are good at. For me, that is marketing and lead generation and mentoring. I am not the sales guy. That's OK. There is a sales group that supports me and closes my leads for me. I focus on generating leads and building relationships with my group.
3) Every member of Occupy the City can purchase shares in a marketing co-op run by marketing professionals. Most network marketing businesses leave the marketing to trial and error by newbies and amateurs. Why would anyone run a business that way? But that is typically how it is done. So, I plug into effective marketing with Occupy the City so that my money doesn't go to waste.
4) Each member has access to professional training in internet marketing so they can generate their own leads. They also have access to training in mentoring and sales if those are the areas they are going to focus on.
5) Occupy the City offers several different network marketing product companies to provide a portfolio approach to the business. If there is a problem with one company, we can just plug and play another one. The most valuable possession we have as network marketers is the network of people we build. Companies and products are utilized to serve the network most effectively.

"Network Marketing old-school by buying leads and making cold calls SUCKS!"
I Have Found a Home!
I have been in Network Marketing on and off for 20 years now. I am one of those people that is not afraid to pick up the phone and talk to someone about my Network Marketing business. I do whatever it takes and I have a pretty high motivation level. However, I have become increasingly frustrated at the fact that very few people have what it takes to build a successful network marketing home business. This whole situation came to a head recently. I got to the point where I just couldn't in good conscience recruit people into my business the traditional way anymore because I knew they probably wouldn't make it. So, I stopped making calls and searched for a new way of doing things. There had to be a way to really help people make it in network marketing!Thankfully, I came across a unique group named Occupy the City. I can tell you that Jason Acopolis, Owen Walcher and the other leaders in Occupy the City really want the average person to succeed in network marketing. This is not just lip service, it is the vision of Occupy the City to help EVERYONE who wants success to have it. The leadership is taking their expertise in internet marketing, technology, and selling and channeling all of it into helping the entire community of Occupy the City reach their dreams. They work tirelessly to make this community the best it can be and they simply don't quit.
I feel at home here, because the leaders think like I do. Sure, we want to make money and have a great lifestyle, but we want to accomplish it because we built other people up and helped them succeed. We don't want success at other people's expense. There is a richness in life that goes beyond money and it can be found in helping others get what they want out of life.

Network Marketing Problems and Solutions
In my 20 years of experience in network marketing, I have been through many challenges and I have seen many people struggle with Network Marketing for a variety of reasons. For example, can you relate to any of these situations:1) You work hard to build a business, only to see the company you work with go out of business.
2) You are great at lead generation but you can't convert leads into new business associates.
3) You can recruit like crazy, but you lack the leadership skills to keep people moving forward and end up with a revolving door of people going in and out of your business.
4) You are great at mentoring and relationship building, but you can't recruit enough people to build a significant business.
5) The learning curve seems so steep and the hill to climb to profitability is too high. You just can't find enough support, money, or motivation to get over the hump.
6) Your upline built a 6 figure business with their warm market, but you can't find a single friend interested in your business.
7) You got into an automated internet marketing system and got excited as your downline grew like mad. Unfortunately, it faded into oblivion almost as quickly because there were no relationships built to hold it together.
An amazing new community, Occupy the City, solves all of the above problems and more by introducing Fortune 500 concepts to the business of Network Marketing.

What does it really take to succeed in network marketing? (Part 1 - Perseverance)
There are several ideas I associate with perseverance. First of all, it is an acknowledgement that success is not easy to achieve, but it is worth putting in the significant effort required to achieve the success you seek.
Next, perseverance means not being too optimistic or pessimistic, but being realistic. Don't check your brain at the door when you start your network marketing business. Rather, plan your path to success out on paper by answering such questions as:
1) How much time am I going to commit to my business each week?
2) How much money am I going to budget each month for marketing and product purchases?
3) Where do I want my business to be at the end of the first 90 days?
Finally, perseverance implies trying different ways of doing things until you figure out what works for you. Here are some points to consider:
1) Are you tracking the results of various marketing ideas and efforts? How do you know what works unless you track it?
2) If something (a way of marketing, a way of dealing with prospects, etc) doesn't work, then stop doing it that way and try something else.
3) The internet is full of advice from successful people in network marketing. Research different ideas and don't be afraid to experiment.
If you want to see what is working for me, check out Occupy the City Network Marketing Group. We all contribute to the growth of eachother's businesses by performing tasks that are geared toward our strengths.
What does it really take to succeed in network marketing? (Part 2 - Think Long Term)
1) Realize that the beginning is the most difficult part of the business. At this stage, you have no network, so if you don't work and if you don't invest into marketing, there can be no future in this business for you. You have to put out time and money for a while before you see any results. Think about the payoff months and years down the road, not the fact that you are cash-flow negative in the beginning.
2) Think long term with your marketing. You have probably heard the expression "The fortune is in the follow-up". This is a very true statement. Sure, some people will sign up right away into your business as a result of your marketing and initial follow-up. However, MOST of your sales and recruitment will come from list building and long term follow up. This is where most people in network marketing drop the ball. They try it for a couple of months and then quit. If they would have continued to follow up with their prospects, they woudl have achieved lasting results. Instead, they leave money on the table.
3) Remember why you got into this business in the first place. If you are like me, you want to build a business that results in you getting paid over and over again for the efforts you put in. Also, don't you want to get paid on the efforts of a lot of other people and not just your own? Don't let go of this dream when the going gets tough. Anything worthwhile comes at a price.
One of the great things about Occupy the City is that the list building and follow-up is handled for you. You also benefit by getting others into your business within the first couple of weeks by participating in the marketing co-op. This means that you have other people's time and money working to build your business sooner. This helps you stay in the business long enough to see the fruits of your labor.

Network Marketing Integrity
1) The honest, but harsh approach: "You have to develop a lot of skills and consistently put money and effort into your business. If you persevere long enough, you will develop those skills (sales/people skills, marketing, leadership) and become successful." This is a true statement and I give these people a lot of credit for telling it like it is. The only problem is that we know that VERY few people will ever succeed if they have to persevere and develop all of these skills on their own.
2) Hyped up approach that either minimizes the importance of skills and perseverance or claims to do everything for the prospect for autopilot success.
What is so desperately needed in the marketplace is someone that will be honest like #1 above, but will also come alongside the prospect and say, "Yes, its true, you need skills and perseverance to succeed in network marketing - and it won't be easy or happen overnight. But, we are going to make sure that as a team, we collectively possess those skills and use them for eachother's benefit, and we are going to develop real relationships within a community so that we can get support as we build our businesses and persevere TOGETHER.
Thankfully, there is such a community, Occupy the City. If you join, here is what to expect from Occupy the City:
1) We are a community committed to helping EVERYONE that is willing to consistently put in the time, money and effort to build a profitable network marketing business. This community will develop real, lasting relationships based on a common vision.
2) Because of our focus on a strength-based division of labor and training, you can spend time on your business doing things you enjoy - or at least don't hate. So, you really don't have to make those dreaded sales calls if you don't want to. We will also teach you new, useful skills.
3) We have a sales-based marketing co-op, so your business WILL grow in proportion to the time and money you put into it. This co-op includes a special pool designed to get sales for new people as quickly as possible. The co-op also allows people to contribute time to complete tasks that benefit their own individual business and the community as a whole. These time credits are as good as a financial contribution for them to get sales in the co-op as well. So, if money is tight, people can invest time that WILL result in sales.
4) A commitment from the leadership to work tirelessly to do everything in our power to help build everyone's long-term success.

Attraction Marketing, Social Networking and Web 2.0 - Part 1
Attraction Marketing
1) Trust is the key to transforming someone from a cold lead with no particular knowledge of - or interest in - you or your business into a business partner that buys into your vision and is committed to working with you long term.
2) Trust is a process and is generally gained over a period of time and multiple contacts. This is where technology is a beautiful thing and can really help you. You can build a lot of trust with great marketing materials, websites and follow-up communications that communicate a consistent message of competence and care for your prospects.
3) Trust is earned when the prospect believes that you are an expert in your business and you are successful, that you CARE about their success, and that you CAN help them be successful. Think about it... why would anyone join your business unless they believe that you know what you are doing and can and will help them get what THEY want?
Really, "attraction marketing" is the buzzword for building a business the old fashioned way using new technology. How do you get business associates to join your network marketing opportunity?
1) Develop a presence so you can be seen by your target market. This is through paid advertisement and/or organic traffic.
2) Now that someone knows you exist, begin the process of educating them on how you can help them get to where they want to go. They will know you can help them if you show competence and concern for them.
3) The old cliche that the fortune is in the follow-up is very true. For someone to join your business, not only do you need to be competent and caring in their eyes, but the timing also has to be right in your eyes. So, constant follow-up helps in two ways. First of all, it demonstrates a long-term commitment to your business. Second, it increases the likelihood that a marketing message from you will be in front of them when the timing is right in their lives for them to take action.
One of the great things about Occupy the City is that they have attraction marketing down to a science - from the initial marketing through to the human and technology-based follow-up systems.

Occupy the City adds Sales-Based Co-op Rotation!
So lets start with the newbie co-op. Each new person that meets certain financial and autoship requirements goes into a queue where sales are passed to each new member in such a way as to maximize their pay in the various compensation plans of our network marketing companies. Once they have received the sales/new members, they are no longer a part of that queue. However, the new people they just recruited through the co-op are now in that queue! This emphasis on new people is powerful and benefits everyone.
There is also a system totally separate from this newbie co-op where members can earn points toward sales through a financial or time contribution. Points can be earned by completing a series of tasks that benefit the individual member's business as well as the overall community. The cumulative effect of completing all of these marketing tasks will be a domination of the network marketing niche over time.
