When I discovered that Yahoo 360 blogs were closing, I wasn't exactly upset. Why on earth did I choose Yahoo 360 in the first place? The darned thing was always hit and miss as to whether it would post the piece you had just written and pleased itself whether it would show the pictures or the tags.
Yes, losing Yahoo 360 was pretty much a relief. Why didn't I leave it sooner? Well, when you've put in a fair bit of effort to try and raise your profile through a blog, you are definitely reluctant to throw it away, so, thanks Yahoo for giving me a push.
Looking for somewhere else to blog was, I thought, going to be a nightmare but then a friend recommended Tumblr and at the beginning of July I went to give it a try out.
This lens is for Tumblr, my new love ;)
So, what's cool about Tumblr?
It's infernally easy to use and that's a huge advantage right there, but there's so much more you can do with Tumblr and I'm only just beginning to find some of it out.Did you know you can have your own domain name on Tumblr? Did you realise that you can follow people and reblog any posts you think are worthy? Did you know that the blogs on Tumblr are ranked in a similar way to Squidoo lenses?
On Tumblr you can upload text (with html if you like). photographs, quotes, links, audio clips, video clips and there's a chat facility.
Even better, not only can you invite people to comment on your blog articles, photographs etc, you can also enable others to send you submissions for your blog - more of this below.

What gets onto my blog?
Almost anything can appear on my blog, a fair bit of it is either Squidoo or auction related.
Of course, I also like to have a rant now and again (who hasn't noticed this) and so a bit of politics, a bit of life, some railing against injustice, animals, plants, family, you name it, it can turn up on my blog or on Squidoo - and frequently on both.
I don't go on holiday very often but the pictures on this lens probably give you some idea of the kind of places I visit, anything connected with standing stones and stone circles can appear as well.
Eclectic tastes sums me up, I guess.

A WORD OF WARNING
You must use original content in your Tumblr account. I have seen a few people now whose accounts have been deleted becuase all that was being displayed was RSS feeds. Be warned.
It only takes a minute to post on Tumblr, whether it's a photo you're uploading or some text. It takes even less time to reblog a post from someone you are following. Clearly it isn't a site where you can simply park your RSS feeds.

- I hadn't heard of Tumblr until I found your blog. Looks wonderful and sounds so easy to use I might have to give it a try. Enjoyed your pics and while you may have eclectic tastes I find them enlightening and fascinating. Nice overview! :)
