How to have an Old Fashioned yet Green Wedding

Ranked #3,678 in Weddings, #373,611 overall

It does not have to be one OR the other - have it both ways !

Combine the beauty of an old-fashioned wedding with the responsibleness of having a green wedding.
I will help you to come up with some ideas that will allow you to have both.

I also have a Bridal Gift Registry, Wedding Invitations, and Wedding Binders... to help you.

Old-Fashioned can be Green...

...and save money too

vintage buttons imageFolks can have a Green Wedding with the look of an old-fashioned wedding by using an old wedding dress from a family member or a thrift store wedding dress and adding old lace, old buttons, and trims... and making the dress their own.

The same can be done for the attendant dresses too by getting old dresses or gowns and jazzing them up with lace or other trims to give the dresses a new look while still being green.

Doing this will give your wedding a unique look and style, help the environment by not adding to the consumerism, and can also save money too which is always a big plus.

Add vintage flair to your Green wedding

vintage jewelry, vintage glassware and gifts - photo of Gramz' boothI have folks stop by my gift shop to buy some of my vintage vases and dishes... to hold beautiful bouquets of wildflowers mixed with their own garden flowers for the table decorations and for the girls to carry as their bouquets

You can go with a certain color scheme such as using all white containers like vintage milk glass.
Or, mix and match to go with your wedding colors.

How about a beautiful vintage rhinestone necklace and bracelet to wear on your wedding day ?
You will have a look of your own as vintage pieces have such flair and are getting harder to find and you will be keeping with your Green theme as buying vintage pieces is a great way to recycle ;)

Family and friends often want to help with the wedding so get them involved by having them scour the gift shops, flea markets, and thrift shops... to look for these vases and dishes... .
Also, if they have an organic flower garden, see what sorts of flowers will be blooming at the time of your wedding and ask them if you can stop by (or have a flower savvy friend stop by) to cut flowers for your wedding.
You'll want to pick out your own vintage jewelry to make sure it is the right look and length for you.
.

What to throw instead of rice ?

image of lavender flowersMany people have bought some of my lavender to use as the "throw" in stead of rice or bird seed.

I'm sure you have heard that rice is not for the birds who will eat the fallen rice.

Bird seed is a better choice but will cause weeds to grow wherever it lands and takes root.

So, because lavender buds are both small in size and smells great - many folks are using it now instead.
You could use rose petals, chamomile flowers, lilac petals or most any flower. Just make sure to use just the petals or tiny buds or else the flowers might be too heavy and may not feel very good when you get some thrown at you ;)

Green party favors

set of 6 all natural cedar-lavender muslin sachetsI sell quite a few of my all natural muslin sachets that are filled with cedar/lavender buds, cedar/rose buds, or cedar/peppermint to be used as the. table favors for both the Bridal Shower and for the Wedding reception.

I have several sizes of them.

If you would like these, I need at least a month's notice to have the muslin bags sewn and time for me to fill them.

Green gifts

I have some sets already put together and sold as a set, but most are sold separately so you can put your sets together or mix and match.

Here is my Wish List/Gift Registry where you can sign-up and then let friends and family know where you are registered.
You request items from my online store http://organicgiftsbydiana.ecrater.com/

Greener choices...

Okay, sometimes you have to buy new...

Diana's Gift Shop in Hubbard Ohio and OrganicGiftsByDiana on eCrater have green gifts and ideas tooI know some folks will have to have a "real" invitation and your great Aunt Mary wont be happy unless she gets one.
So, yes get some for those folks, but then how about using small business card sized "Save the Date" cards for everyone else on your guest list.
These use far less paper and ink to make and you can pass them out (or include one in a letter) to family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers... when you see them.
Now you are saving a few trees, money, and fuel because these do not have to be mailed.

Get your ideas together into a binder to save time and money.
Gather up old magazines to tear out the ideas that you and your honey would like to use in your wedding or reception.

Just get engaged ?
