One of the most underrated platform conversions of all time and one of the least known Sega games, Comix Zone is an innovative platform game that turns the typical side-scrolling format into a cool interactive comic book, where each scene is a panel. In contrast to mundane hero-saves-the-world plot of countless other platform games, the story in Comix Zone is unique, and fits in perfectly with the game's presentation. You are comic book artist Sketch Turner, who is sucked into his own comic book world and must fight numerous baddies to escape back to the real world.

While Comix Zone is in many ways a typical punch-everyone-in-sight-and-move-to-next-screen platform game, the innovative comic-book style presentation sets it above and beyond other games of this ilk. Word balloons appear when Sketch talks to someone, and once he knocks down an end-level "boss," he'll leap out of the page and back down into the next panel, or even shortcut to the panels below. This inside / outside dichotomy of a comic book is used to excellent results. For example, Sketch can rip loose chunks of the page itself (i.e. where he is in) to make deadly paper airplanes. He can also punch baddies through the ink boundaries of a panel. These effects greatly enhance the atmosphere, and each new level comes with surprising new effects.

A new virtual reality arcade game arrived in town and every kid played it. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until kids began to disappear. The game's boss, Heady Metal, had freed himself from his scripted AI and was using his new freedom to kidnap every kid who could not beat the game, which was all of them-until now!

Kid Chameleon enters the game and must defeat every level, every boss and Heady Metal himself if he wants to save the other.

Ive always enjoyed this game because of the game play and power ups one minute you a samurai the next your a guy throwing axes and the next your a Tornado kid the easy levels and power ups keep the game running strong.

Jim used to be a garden-variety earthworm, but after discovering a high-tech space cybersuit, he became a super mean fighting machine known as Earthworm Jim. In this wacky platformer, you play as Jim as he tries to rid the world of evil, including a diabolical character known as Psy-Crow, who wants Jim's suit for his own needs. You'll lead Jim through 12 nutty levels, including New Junk City, What the Heck?, Down the Tubes, Snot a Problem, Level 5, For Pete's Sake, Buttville, and Andy Asteroids, as you run, jump, and fight your way to victory. Along the way, you'll find all kinds of power-ups that make you stronger and let you pull off moves you wouldn't otherwise be able to do. The gameplay features a large increase in pace from Streets of Rage 2. The heroes move and attack faster, but so do the enemies. Enemy attacks can also be avoided with new running and vertical-dodge moves, though most player attacks deal less damage than in the predecessor. The level timer has been removed and was replaced with a 'power meter' (see below). The end-of-level 'Time bonus' has been replaced with a 'Life bonus', determined by the amount of life a player has at the end of a level.

A significant change is that special moves no longer always drain the player's life bar, thanks to the power meter. The power meter takes a few seconds to fill, and when empty, the player is weaker in attacking, and takes more damage when hit and when using special moves. When full however, the player attacks and defends at full strength, and use of a special move will not drain the player's life bar at all, though it will drain the power meter to empty again. However, although the power meter makes a large difference to the player's strength in Bare Knuckle 3, in Streets of Rage 3 the difference is barely noticeable. The change means special moves can be used much more often, extending a character's normal repertoire. Though this is balanced by the moves being weaker.

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers was the first Street Fighter game that Capcom would release on its CPS-2 hardware. All prior Street Fighter games had been released on Capcom's CPS-1 hardware. The arcade version of this game also included a variant that allowed four arcade cabinets to be connected together for simultaneous tournament play. This version contained the most extensive changes introduced in the series:

Four new characters were added (Cammy, T. Hawk, Fei Long, and Dee Jay). Boss characters received updated regular move sets. Boss characters also received new, individual game endings. Each character could be selected with one of eight different color palettes. Some of the original eight playable characters received updated art and audio. The speed introduced in Hyper Fighting was reduced. A combo counter (a first despite combos being in the game since the original), as well as point bonuses for first attack, combos and reversals.
