The Great Internet Marketing Experiment

By now many of you have heard of the Law of Attraction and The Secret; both of which tell us that we can have what ever our hearts desire with the correct application of attitude and action.

This lens is an experiment to see what can be achieved using this process.

My girlfriend and I have discovered this wonderful little street in East Perth (Western Australia) called Old Belvidere Promenade. It's a charming little street with a character all of its own, and we love it!

So since we've both seen The Secret and we immediately created our own vision board, complete with pictures of one of the houses in Old Belvidere that has recently been on the market.

And this site is the next logical step: we intend to apply the secrets of The Secret and create sufficient wealth and abundance in our lives so that we can buy our own place in Old Belvidere.

And at the same time, we are going to use this lens as a journal of the things we've tried, how successful we've been, and where we are on a journey to our new home.

We hope you can come along for the ride...

Paul and Naomi

So Just Where is Old Belvidere Promenade?

Old Belvidere Promenade is an interesting little street in the suburb of East Perth in Western Australia.

In case you were wondering, here it is on Google Maps

And there is also a whole blog on this very interesting street.

UPDATE : 8 June, 2007

A big hello to our new friends in Old Belvidere Promenade.

The Blogger of Belvidere added a link so thank you for that.

We hope you'll visit their web site and take a look around at this wonderful place Naomi and I hope to call home one day soon...

Build a Niche Store

Building an income stream by directing web traffic

Whilst we were researching selling Naomi's scrapbooking stuff on eBay, we came across a web site called Build a Niche Store. It described how you can quickly and easily set up a niche web site to drive traffic to eBay, which pays affiliates up to an amazing 65% of their income from the sale.

This sounded very interesting, and in the name of e-Science :) we decided to give it a go.

So with a couple hundred bucks down for the software , domain registration and hosting, we are now up and running with our first shop: gaming.shopology.us.

We intend to create a number of stores, and eventually shopology.us will be come a giant electronic mall with links to all sorts of goodies.

And on top of the eBay links, we are using our Amazon affiliate account to promote their gaming products as well.

The final step is to add Google Adsense to the mix and our store will be complete.

Check back in a week or so and see how we're doing. We'll be posting regular summaries of whether we have made any money and how exactly our store is doing.

End of Financial Year Report Card

Well here in Perth we've reached the end of the financial year, so it seems like a good time to update this page and tell you how we are going.

Both Naomi and I have been working hard; me on this page (though not over the last few weeks) and BANS, and Naomi selling some stuff on eBay in order to set up her own store.

And, of course, we have been checking out all the internet marketing and affiliate stuff we can get our hands on without shelling out huge wads of cash before we turn dollar-zero...

And an interesting one came by today: .

These guys claim to have reviewed the whole internet marketing game, and have weeded out all the chaff to leave us with distilled marketing goodness from which we can all profit!

So will just a small outlay of $US77, all this can be yours...so why not check out

.

So, back to reality: how much have we made so far.

To be honest we haven't made a cent - in fact, we are $Aus300 in the hole for a couple of domain names we have chosen for our BANS stores, which I will tell you about when the main page is up (but check out the next post for a sneak preview of some of our stores), as well as the BANS software.

But Naomi's stuff on eBay is looking promising...she has 15 items for sale and currently the collective bids stand at $Aus160! It's not gonna make Donald Trump worry but it's a start, and if we promote the BANS sites well, this could be a "nice little earner" as they say in the UK.

The auctions end tomorrow (evening of 30 June Perth time) so final results will be posted over the weekend.

So while you're waiting why not check out the new products we found, as well as our first BANS stores.

Happy New Financial Year! :P

Update :: eBay and Build A Niche Site (BANS)

Well Naomi's eBay endeavours got off to a flying start!

She found a bundle of things that she no longer wanted and put them up on eBay - her primary intention is to create an eBay store to sell her hand made greeting cards and other such craft-y things (coming soon ;).

Nothing spectacular was posted ... or so we thought ... until the closing minutes of the bids for an old gramophone.

The bidding had stalled at about $Aus90 with 18 watchers. Then a few minutes from the close of the auction, bidding resumed.

This is known around the traps as "eBay sniping" - firing well timed shots to hit your target.

I was watching the closing stages of the auction because I've been a buyer in this situation before, but even I was not prepared for what happened next!

The bids jumped - a dollar here, $5 there - up to $130 - and then the price doubled! Yes! DOUBLED! OMG! I got excited and Naomi came running out - she got all excited and then laughed herself silly because I had gotten all excited over her auction :)

So one discarded item sold on eBay for $260 - but the most interesting part was this: the final buyer lay in wait until the closing minutes of the auction and placed a strategic bid right at the end, thus scoring the goods for herself. Clever!

In all, eBay has netted us about $300 so far and hopefully, with feedback from the buyers, the right to create an eBay store where we can start selling more stuff.

But this is not a strategic long term goal by any means - once we run out of stuff, we run out of income from eBay.

The strategy here is to create the eBay store and then fill it - either with Naomi's hand made goodies which she loves to create, or with other stuff we find and can resell to people that visit the site.

Other such goodies will probably include e-books on card making and scrapbooking, hints and tips, and other useful content. And there'll be some free stuff, too!

This is just our plan for our first eBay store, but we have a few other ideas in mind. But if you have something you're interested in, why not drop us a line - it might be your email that moves the store you want to the top of the queue.

Build A Niche Site (BANS)

So far we have 3 BANS sites operating: gaming, scrapbooking, and iPods, and we have just loaded up the main page: www.shopology.us.

This page will always contain links to the latest stores so you can always keep up to date with new stores as they are built.

So why not visit shopology.us

78 Records, Golf Accessories, Miscellaneous

As I write this, Naomi is working her little butt off adding stuff to the eBay store she created last night.

Needless to say, we found a tonne (that's 0.9842 ton for you non-metric folk) of eBay related links from writing listings to driving traffic to the site.

Naomi is a dab hand at creating hand made cards for birthdays, engagements, and the like so if you have a need why not pop by in a few more days time and you can see what she's got to offer.

Anyway, we'll be doing our research on the eBay store, driving traffic, and all, and we'll post our findings here for all to see.

New Look Scrapbooking Website

Shiny new-look website now ready...

We've had our BANS stores for some time now. Some have withered on the vine, but others like Naomi's scrapbooking store, have taken on a life of their own.

Naomi is an avid scrapbooker and as we speak is playing with her latest toys, digitial scrapbooking software.

Her scrapbooking store has also received a much need face lift and now offers step by step instructions on how to create various items related to scrapbooking including hand made cards and iris folding.

If you haven't seen it, check out http://scrapbooking.shopology.us/ and if you haven't been for a while go check out the new look, then leave a comment on the site, or report back here with some feedback for our other readers.

Happy Scrapbooking!!!
