Are Online Games Addictive?

I certainly think this to be true. Online games are really so addictive now especially that there are the makings of 3G network phones and so on. These games are like the traditional video games, but only better. There are more modern games created with a more sophisticated aura of touch screen. Think touch phones which you can get in the market right now and you will get what I mean.

One doesn't need to get out of the house anymore to curb their boredom. You can just stick around with playing the never-ending online games provided by different companies. In my context, gone were the days of Counter-Strike moments spent in internet cafes and the likes. I'm not surprised should one day Counter-Strike becomes converted to an online application game too with the function of touch and can be played on say, an I-Phone. Who knows, right? This is a hypothetical thought. Question is, is it good to be addicted in the long run? It can and cannot be, in my point of view. You might get eyesight problems for one, like for those whom are not bespectacled might find themselves needing one in future and for those whom get tired eyes easily might get this problem too. Another factor to consider would be whether one's leisure time is being forsaken for this fetish of playing online games. There is this particular scenario. Say you are married. You have a wife or husband whom you love, of course and it's the weekend. And you want to get out for a bit and chill with them somewhere. However, due to the online game they are addicted to, makes the outing postponed or canceled totally. That's something like the downside to getting addicted. Come to think of it, these games can be played on mobile and that is another great factor. But the whole purpose of the outing will be defeated.

Of course one can say control is possible. But when to draw the line, that's the most important thing. You can have the whole day at home or some free time, but if you use the whole day just to 'relax' by playing some games online, then it's kind of defeating the purpose, really. I am a no-brainer too when it comes to these and am pretty much addicted, especially those that you can find in social network sites like Facebook and MySpace. However, seemingly when one has gotten to play it consistently, there can be a certain kind of lacking in other areas. Like to try and sticking out to one's hobby, trying to make up the time to spend with family members or just having some bit of 'me' time. And with that, I don't mean by playing online games.

To stick with the title content, so why is it addictive? And really addictive, that is. Is it because everyone's into it and it's becoming a trend and hence, wanting to join in the fun? Or is it because there are just so many nice and creative designs that one can see and enjoy whilst playing? I know those 'touch' games are really spot-on and giving a certain sense of satisfaction. It is quite fun to touch some buttons, wait for your turn to play or your energy to replenish and continue on. There are some whom create accounts just to play online games applications too. Seeing all their friends joining and having fun, they are also enticed to play. It's actually up to the individual, anytime when one is ready to play or not. Come to think of it, traditional games are also very much having the same problem. If one can handle their own leisure time for work and play, then nothing much is the problem, really.

well the topic about videogame addiction is pretty common today, like the Generic Viagra addiction that some elderly people are suffering around the world!
