Only the Good News Please

How many times have you turned on the news in a good mood and found your whole world has shifted in a matter of minutes? In this time of economic struggles, home foreclosures and swine flu, we all need something in our lives to let us know there is good as well as bad.

So what is good news? To me, good news is an uplifting story where people overcome problems. animals are heroes, there is a great flea market this weekend, people are helping people because they can.

Good news can also be a cute image, a funny FW, an uplifting or funny video.

Good news can also be a book that is funny, uplifting or gives me a perspective that helps me face the world with a smile on my face.

Here you will find the bright, the positive, the happy. News stories, quotes, photos and videos that make us smile and even laugh. Think of this lens as the FW without the FW! Come back each day for a smile. If you the good news, FW: it to your friends and pass on the Good!

"Though it be honest, it is never good to bring bad news."

William Shakespeare

There is a lot of good news out there. Let me help you find it!

Feeling a little down? Finding it hard to remember that there is indeed a lot of good news in our world? Look no further! Come here when you want to link to a smile or two! It could change your day. Go ahead.....what are you waiting for?

Always Check Your Child's Homework

One more funny to brighten your day from www.funnyonly.com

Dear Mrs. Jones,

I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer.
I work at Home Depot, and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot.
From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith

To watch the news, or NOT to watch the news, that is the question!

When the news seems all bad, is it better NOT to watch it rather than let it affect your own outlook?

Yes! I agree....I need to hear good news more often. Between the economy and

fotolady49 says:

If you know something will depress you or throw you off center, it is wise to stay away, at least until you feel stronger. There are many ways to get news, your local NPR station is a great alternative. We are inundated with news, more bad than good. It will catch up with us through friends, email, twitter, facebook, local news (radio and television), newspapers, etc. you can't hide too far away from it. Moderation and balance are key
here. We can watch, change the channel or shut it off and listen to uplifting music or curl up with a good book!

LaraineRose says:

I vote for good news. We all know the bad news - it gets published over and over again - day and night. Give me some good news please.

a_willow says:

I don't watch news any more! :) People always talk about important events so I found out about it anyhow!

Jimmie says:

I absolutely believe in the "hide your head in the sand" tactic. :-) No, seriously, a person must take control of his thoughts, and monitoring what goes IN is a factor. I do think that USA media is very powerful force to cause people to worry and fear.

Heather426 says:

I never watch the news, too depressing. I read the newspaper and only read stories that interest me...

No! Get a grip. This too shall pass. We need to know what is going on in the world in order to change it!

Pastiche says:

At one point in my life I stopped reading the newspaper, then the Internet grew larger. It's hard to avoid news; I try to keep a good attitude - I'd rather know and not worry than not know. And not all news is bad.

C-Joy says:

Yes I need to know what is going on in the world but I want FACTS and not sensationalized information. So I take what I see with a grain of salt, get news from the internet & watch Jon Stewart & Steven Colbert for giggles :)

Wysiwigs says:

When I have had enough of the news media, I simply turn off the set (I can usually tell when I've hit my limit, as I will start yelling at the TV). We just have to be careful to balance out all the negativity with more positive things (like chocolate :o)

chefkeem says:

We need to stay informed about our world so we can make the right decisions as citizens and as compassionate human beings. However, we don't need to expose ourselves to the blatant sensationalism of our mainstream news outlets. It's better to get objective and well-researched information from independent sources on the web.
