Losing weight can be tough. I know because I've struggled with weight gain most of my life. I understand your frustrations, and I've written this page to offer you possible solutions.

Whether you choose to join a weight loss clinic or if you choose to lose weight in the privacy of your own home, the most important thing you need is emotional support. We'll talk more about that later.

Outside of medical conditions, weight gain can be summarized in one sentence: more calories consumed than calories spent. Essentially, you are eating more calories over the course of a day than you are burning off with your natural, daily routine. It's that simple.

Weight loss can only be achieved by combining three things.

The first thing you must do is decrease your calorie intake (or maintain your calorie intake but increase your exercise). This will stop weight gain, and it will make weight loss possible. The second step you need to take to lose weight is to incorporate "calorie burning" into your lifestyle. This could be walking, weight-lifting, playing tennis, kicking a soccer ball around three times a week, etc.

If you do not perform that two-step combination, you will not lose weight.

If you perform only one without implementing the other, you will not lose weight.

To summarize, weight-loss requires two things:

  1. Decrease your caloric intake (or match your calorie intake with calorie expenditure).

  2. Increase your daily calorie expenditure so you can start losing weight
Sounds easy, doesn't it? In truth, weight loss is easy.

The toughest part is step three: lifestyle changes. If you are overweight it is because you have developed a daily, habitual routine that fails to burn calories (or consumes too many). If you can objectively analyze your lifestyle, you will realize that the solution is a matter of lifestyle change. Your real goal is not losing weight, but ultimately to live a healthier lifestyle.

You must realize that weight loss occurs naturally if you establish a healthier lifestyle. Think about this: do skinny people walk around all day thinking, "I want to lose weight; I need to burn more calories; I can't eat that chocolate cake; etc.". No, skinny people do not think about those things. They just live their life; performing their daily routine without a care in the world for weight-gain. As a by-product, they do not gain weight. Why? Because of their lifestyle.
