Homemade Orangina

Love Orangina's Little Glass Bottles
I've always loved Orangina, the way you need to gently shake it up to mix in the real juice pulp. "Aranciata" orange flavored carbonated soda from San Pellegrino is also a favorite. When I want to feel decadent, I buy a pack of Orangina or Aranciata and line my fridge from front to back like a hotel mini-bar.

How to Make Homemade Orangina
Tough times call for cutting back on the family food budget and carbonated orange sodas are not tops on the "must have" list of beverages. However, my husband has invented his own fairly decent imitation of homemade Orangina which is cheaper than the original. Below is a quick step-by-step guide for his homemade Orangina.

Orangina Controversy
By the way, did you hear about the big flap about Orangina and the controversial ad campaigns they were running in Europe? Included is the original ad that got people in a twist. Plus Orangina's been loved around the world since the 50s and included throughout are the vintage Orangina print posters from Bernard Villemot. Enjoy!

Anne says:

I think it's probably different tasting but, still good. maybe even really good!

Connor says:

i have another way to make it, take 1 packet of crystal light orange juice and mix with sparkling water and there you go

Hugs_46011 says:

We used to try to do the same thing in one of my French classes. I was so excited to see your attempt at creating it. As I was telling my friends about it I found your sight.

D-Rocka says:

Add a splash of lemon juice and orange extract/essence and viola!

jawnson says:

I tried mixing orange juice and seltzer on my own and drank it RIGHT after an orangina, and it tasted just about the same. however, i did it 1/2 & 1/2.

Controversial Origina Ad Commercial

Orangina, Shake it... Not in Public!

Orangina is a drink which is mainly aimed at children and young people, but this new advert places the product in a very sexualised and provocative context. The almost sinister portrayal of animals in an animation style filled with sexual innuendo leads to very mixed and confused messages.

"An advertisement for Orangina is the subject of a scandal in the United Kingdom, after it was broadcast only once on a digital television channel" according to Agoravox.com, 08/2008

I think anytime you can make something at home it is great! I've never had Orangina so I wouldn't even have to worry about comparisons. Nicely done & blessed.

Wonderful lens. The new commercial is a bit racy for children, but fun for adults. Quite a fantasy land for little children to dream about, no? Orangina would probably make a good 7-up cake. Thanks for featuring our lens.
