Faith-based learning
George Fox University is Christ-centered. Our heritage as a Quaker-founded institution gives us distinctives common to the Friends Church, such as a concern for social justice, a commitment to peace and nonviolence, and a belief in the equality of all people. While approximately 5 percent of our undergraduate students are Friends, more than 50 denominations are represented on campus, the largest being Baptist.Students of all faiths are welcome. While we don't require a signed statement of faith from students, we are a Christian university, and, as such, ask our students and employees to abide by the university's community expectations. In keeping with our mission of Christian higher education, all employees - faculty, administration, and staff- are committed evangelical Christians.
George Fox University's Department of Nursing has been granted full accreditation of its baccalaureate degree program by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education's Board of Commissioners.
The accreditation was granted for a term of five years, extending to June 30, 2012, by the CCNE, an autonomous, national accrediting agency created to ensure the quality and integrity of baccalaureate and graduate degree nursing programs. George Fox University is one of four CCNE-accredited schools in Oregon.
For George Fox University, the recognition is the culmination of years of planning and work by the nursing department's faculty and staff, according to department chair Ron Mitchell.
