Installing a patio heater has its advantages, but you also need to keep certain points in mind, especially if you are using the portable variety that runs on propane gas. We will now go into them one by one:

- It is best not to use them inside the home. However, during natural calamity, when there is suspension of power supply, you can use a propane patio heater to heat up your rooms, but that is not advisable under normal circumstances.
- Make sure that the heater is fitted with anti tilt shut off mechanism so that it shuts off automatically if it is pushed.
- Never move the heater when it is alight. Shut it off first.
- Make sure the outdoor patio heater is positioned somewhere, where there is no risk of contact with nearby objects, hanging materials etc.
- If possible, position it in a in a shielded area so that wind cannot blow it off. Or else keep an eye on it. Follow your manufacturers warnings related to wind conditions.
- Check the hose connections regularly and replace it periodically to ensure there is no leakage of gas

Outdoor patio heaters will ensure that your home is kept neat and clean because your children will be spending more time out of doors and your guests will prefer to sit out rather than in. It will also ensure that your outdoor parties and gatherings do not come to an abrupt end because the weather has turned too chilly all of a sudden. However, to utilize your patio to the maximum you not only need some good patio furniture, but one or two patio umbrellas too. Make this small investment to lead a healthy and happy life.

Invest in patio umbrellas first if budget is an issue. You can always pull up some light chairs to be used in the patio for the time being. However, there is more to an umbrella than a colorful canopy, although the colors do matter. Make sure it is structurally strong. If you live in high wind area, buy umbrellas with fiberglass ribs because these ribs can bend to allow the wind to pass through, but do not break.

As it is, it is always wiser to close the umbrella whenever a storm is in the offing. Yet, you can never tell, one might come all of a sudden and your umbrella stand should be strong enough to withstand the pressure while you are closing it. Apart from fiberglass, the teak umbrellas too are said to be very durable, but such patio umbrellas are very costly and think of your budget before you opt for one. Whatever patio umbrella you choose, choose one quickly because if free radicals are bad for your health, so are the UV rays of the sun. Protect yourself from both of them.
