This crock pot was just what I wanted: just large enough to cook enough food for a couple days and designed so that the ceramic pot can be removed from the cooker and stored in the refrigerator. Plus, it cooks food great!

I'm very pleased with this slow cooker and highly recommend it. I usually don't review appliances for some time after purchase because I think it's important to let people know if a product can stand the test of time. In this case, the Hamilton Beach 4-quart slow cooker has stood my test of 2-1/2+ years of continual use. That alone is worth five stars.

I find I use this about once a week (I'm single, just cooking for myself & friends). It's great for making stock (overnight -- throw in bones and water; when I wake up add aromatics and let it go for another 2 hours), beans (cold water + low heat; 4 - 6 hours later they're done), and the occasional meat dish.

This is my first slow cooker. I am a vegetarian and was very skeptical how much use I would get out of a slow cooker. But I am pleasantly surprised. I have been able to modify almost all of my regular recipes to adapt to the slow cooker and this Hamilton Beech slow cooker has excelled in every one of them. My stews are so full of flavor and I am getting compliments from everyone. I love the keep warm setting and it looks very good on my countertop too. The insert is not too big and fits nicely in the dishwasher. All in all I love it.
