- Just read the California bail out article. We've been in a budget crisis for quite some time now and it certainly didn't start with Arnold. Spending and waste has been this state's modus operandi for many years and I understand why people are surprised by the hellified deficit we now face. What is slashing a few paychecks going to do when faced with being a couple of hundred billion dollars in the hole? I say, simply go a step further. Legalize marijuana all together. Rake in the sale and tax revenue from it's government regulated sale and not only wipe out the deficit within a year, but most likely have us in a surplus and cut out half the drug trafficking and battles over on the Mexican and Canadian borders. But then, perhaps that would be too sensible and it would jilt the California politicans out of the opportunity to further line their pockets with contributions from the Cartels.
