A Spledid Performance Of The SIXTH Innings..Phillies Proved They Are NOW The WORLD CHAMPIONS!

After the long and much anticipated wait the Phillies are the new WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS - defeating Tampa Bay for a 3-1 series win. It was in 1980 of Game six Tug McGraw striking out Willie Wilson to claim the Phillies championship. Forward to October 29, 2008 - the Phillies fanatics wait is over. What an incredible, 'at-the-edge-of-your-seat' game. There's no feeling like watching the last pitch to win the championship series - indeed a history making in Sports.

It's a night to remember! And Yes..We Did It!

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The Philadelphia Phillies ended their long wait for a World Series title with a short burst of baseball on Wednesday as they clinched the crown by completing a rain-suspended 4-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Phillies captured their first Fall Classic title since 1980 in a unique, three-inning finish as they resumed Game Five, suspended in the middle of the sixth on Monday with the score tied 2-2 when the field became unplayable after rain.

After A Quarter-Century of Waiting The Celebration Kicks Off With A Parade.

Phillies will show off the city's first title in 25 years.

"This is a bright and shiny moment. We're going to have a great time" - Philadelphia's mayor Micheal Nutter said Thursday commenting excitedly on the long awaited championship win.

More than a million people are expected Friday as the Philadelphia Phillies parade the World series trophy down the Broad street. The parade will kick off at 20th and market street at noon. Tickets to get into the rallies inside the stadium sold out in less than 90 minutes on Thurshday, although hundreds of fans are likely to turn out in the parking lots to join in on the party.
