Print-On-Demand (POD) Publishing
POD allows the entrepreneurial author to publish only the number of books they need and is produced only when you order. As with any other service you consider, learn about the company before you proceed. You should consider the following:- Setup costs

Print-On-Demand PRO
- Inventory - You can keep your inventory down because you are only printing the number of books that you need.
- You are able to produce a hard cover or soft cover version of your book.
- Some POD service providers offer programs that are specific to authors generally in association with a professional writer's group.
- Works very well with book sales as you can maintain control of the system without a great deal of work. Delivery systems are automated.
- Using a POD company means that when someone orders your book, it can be printed, bound and shipped generally within 1-3 days.
Print-On-Demand CON
- Profit margins are less than eBooks because there are costs associated for the printing, etc.
- An agreement must be reached with a company to supply both the printing and the delivery of the books. Sometimes this will be done by the same company, other times not.
- You will have to do your own marketing of the book.
- Chances of being picked up by a New York Publisher or commercial publisher is very slim.
