An MBA finance graduate at Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies. She was working with GE as a risk consultant in Bangalore and Gurgaon.

She has grown up to be a vibrant dansuese under the auspices of the famous guru Natya Brahma V.S. Ramamurthy. She performed more than 200 public performances to her credit. Her Krishna Leela Ballet, where she performed the role of Lord Krishna for Hyderabad Doordarshan in 1990 is telecast even today on almost all Krishna Jayanti festivals and was specially chosen for the SAARC exchange program - she also featured in Nritya Rupam, an innovative choreography by Jayalakshmi Eshwar at Delhi, which was also specially telecast by Delhi Doordarshan. She has also won Miss. Andhra Pradesh in 2001.

Her passion for acting and modeling has made her successful in her films. Her first film was in Telugu. She then started acting in malayalam movies, were she acted with all the superstars such as Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi. Her first film in Tamil being Thavamai Thavamirundhu paired with actor/director Cheran, which turned to be a huge hit. Then followed Pattiyal a film directed by Vishnuvardhan in which she paired with Arya.

She has recently come up with an allegation against Tamil Director Swamy saying she was beaten by him while shooting for the movie Mirugam.

She has also ventured into Hindi cinema and is doing Striker where she is paired opposite Siddharth. The movie is directed by Chandan Arora.

Padmapriya, heroine of Mirugam, and the movie's director Samy got into an evident clash.

Yesterday, Padmapriya was shooting for the climax of Mirugam. During a final close-up shot, director Samy, behaving like a mirugam (beast) slapped her hard in the face. Shocked and horrified, Padmapriya burst into tears, but continued the shot and completed it.

But the conflict between Padmapriya and Samy has been going on for quite some time. Padmapriya had earlier complained that her character has been created with too much glamour which was not made clear to her during the story session. She, who had accepted the offer thinking it was a strong character role with very little or no glamour, got offended with the glamour quotient and cancelled her dates. She also complained that her allotted dates were getting wasted and that Mirugam shooting was going beyond the planned schedule. After a compromise, the shooting resumed.

Now, a fresh bout of problems has caused further differences of opinion. Director Samy, who hit Padmapriya, claims that he did it to make her emote suitably in a particular scene. After he hit her, he says she successfully finished the scene in a single take.

However, all unit members who witnessed the scene were stunned at this real-life scene.

Will Padmapriya and Samy sort out their disagreements and work together for releasing Mirugam or will this become its sad end?
