Writing articles and submitting them to article directories offers many benefits to the online business professionals we call internet marketers.

There are two Primary Reasons for Publishing Articles:

1. Articles are viral.  They get picked up by bloggers and webmasters for use on their own websites for mutual benefit.  The webmaster gets content on their website that is useful for their customers.  The author gets backlinks to their website.

2. The author establishes themselves as an expert in their field.  Their name becomes know to others in that niche as experienced and knowledgeable on the subject matter.

By the time you are done writing your article, it should be something that your audience will benefit from reading. It's important to know your audience and give them something they can use. It should also be structured so that it is easy to read and follow.

Short paragraphs are much easier to read through than long bulky paragraphs. Short and concise sentences without a bunch of big complicated words are much easier to read than long drawn out and complex sentences. As much as possible, try to write how you speak, then correct your grammar a bit.

What Your Article Should Contain

Your article needs to have 5 parts before you are ready to submit it to the article directories.
  1. Title
  2. Body
  3. Bio
  4. Summary
  5. Tags

Coming up with a Good Article Title

The purpose of your article title is to catch the attention of someone scanning through a long list of article titles. You need to make sure that your title stands out from the rest. To accomplish that, your article title should be catchy, it should clearly describe the article's topic, and it should present a benefit or strong need of the reader.

Writing a good article title is NOT about keyword stuffing an H1 title tag. Don't use the space to try to game the search engines. Remember your goal to get the reader into your article.

Writing an Effective Article Body

The purpose of the article body is to get the reader to do one of two things - either to click on the link in your author bio, or to curate your article into their website or blog.

Write the article body without thinking about keyword placement. Write it to be meaningful and to be read easily. After you've finished drafting the article, then you can go back and edit in your keywords, but only in a manner that maintains the flow and readability of the article.

Don't give the reader all the answers in your article. Leave the best as an incentive for the reader to click on the link in your bio. Finish your article body by leaving it open ended and with a smooth flow into the bio.

Since EzineArticles requires at least 400 words in each article they accept, you should make sure that every article has at least that many words. EzineArticles gives the most link juice of any of the article directories, so it's important that your article is accepted there.

An Article Bio With a Call to Action

Most article bio's that I see simply introduce the author and post a link to their website or offer. I prefer to make the bio an extension of the article with a call to action that encourages the reader to click the link and be directed to the rest of the story.

Internet article submission service. It has a PageRank of 4 and an Alexa rating of 21,522.
Amazines
They have a comprehensive article database that is free and easy for the Author to submit and manage their articles. It has a PageRank of 3 and an Alexa rating of 18,889.
Article Pros
Online Article Directory, containing Free Reprint Articles on all topics. It has a PageRank of 4 and an Alexa rating of 111,716.
Post Articles
A recommended article submission site. It has a PageRank of 4 and an Alexa rating of 143,612.
Article Networks
Article Networks is one of the fastest growing free articles submission site online. It has a PageRank of 2 and an Alexa rating of 173,485.
