New "Canvas" for Artists - How to paint on Yupo
But yupo is so much fun . I love to transform paintings . This began as an abstract . I didn't like it ,so made some pretty drastic changes by taking off and adding paint . I like to listen to the painting ;this one told me it wanted to be sunflowers . It knew bettter than I did what it should be , don't you think ?
an other yupo surprize
basic monoprint
Put paint down ,laid another yupo paper {plastic ] on top and pulled it off . This left an interesting background to add a dragonfly to .I have a dragonfly series on my website .Their wings are such a challenge .I tried various ways to recreate them .

journey
This has been a fish ,a geisha in a market place with a baby , and now this . Going back to make changes is so tricky ; you can ruin what was there very easily . That's what happened here . The texture was done with saran wrap , paper towels and a rubber mat . Let me tell you about Yupo
beginning yupo painting
I'm am so excited about the "look" of my art on Yupo that I just can't stop. You can see some of my finished pieces at: http://www.patkamerath.comThis leaves a lot to be desired , but wait until you see my latest paintings .

Naming your Paintings
Naming your works can be difficult. Sometimes I know the title while I'm painting. However, I usually wait until I'm totally finished. I move the piece around the room and it patiently waits for me to call out its name. The abstracts are the hardest to name. I sometimes take the piece out of the studio and sit it where friends and visitors can see it. When people notice an abstract, it is hard for them not to say, "It looks like...". I listen for a recurring theme. If you want to sell your work, it usually helps to have your title match the buyer's expectation.http://www.patkamerath.com
