Panama Weather

'Here's the Weather in Panama' report. No, this isn't another opinion site it's a real weather reporting station for Panama weather stats in the Boquete area. The equipment was purchased and set up by Mike LaFoley on the Wild-Orchid Coffee Estate. Intrigued with the weather and gadgets Mike purchased the weather gear and recruited John, another local ex-pat to take care of the engineering and administration. This state of the art electronic weather station is located in Volcancito, a small community in the Chiriqui highlands area near Boquete. The station monitors Panama weather conditions 24/7 and automatically uploads the current weather every 3 minutes.

My wife and I are self-confessed weather addicts. It's an obsession that seems to be somewhat unique to Canadians. So, when we moved to Boquete we really missed our 'Weather Network' cable TV channel. After Continually searching for Panama weather forecasts I recently came across our very own Boquete weather Network! OK it may not be exactly like the Weather Network station back in Canada but it is great to surf by and see exactly what is happening here in our little community.

Weather in Panama and Hurricane History

Lloyd Cripe first visited Panama in February 2001 on a bird watching adventure. In early 2002 he bought 3 hectares (about 7 acres) of land in the Palmira Arriba area just south of the town of Boquete. In 2005 he retired and decided to relocate from Sequim, Washington to live permanently on their Palmira coffee farm.

On his site Lloyd writes, "With a background in aviation, I have long held an interest in meteorology and weather observation. I was curious about the causes of the Boquete weather and climate. I began to observe, read and think about it. This web site is the result of that journey. It was initially created for my personal use but I have decided to make it public with the hopes that others might find it useful. In March of 2007 we installed a WeatherHawk weather station on our coffee farm in Palmira Arriba (this is an area just south of Boquete in the Chiriqui Highlands). We also hope it leads you to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the tropical rain forest environment and atmosphere of Boquete.

He offers mulitple pages of information that really give the reader a terrific insight into not only the local Panama Weather conditions in Palmira, near Boquete but also into tropical weather in general.
