By the end of this year, residents in the Katy area will have even more options for shopping when the Villagio Retail Center opens its doors to joins the ranks of Katy's other shopping centers which include the Katy Mills, La Centerra and Times Square.

"The Villagio is designed to attract all those interested in dining, shopping and having a central area to spend time together," Vernon Veldekens, CEO of The Marcel Group, said.

"Also, for those looking to work close to their community, The Villagio is an ideal location for a professional office."

Located at the northeast corner of Westheimer Parkway and South Peek Road, the center measures at 12 acres capable of holding 50 different stores and attractions.

"The Villagio is a boutique life-style center, meaning it is a more intimate place for visitors and professionals," Veldekens said. "We have spent time researching the surrounding area to ensure that our development will fit into the community and fulfill a need within the community."

At the Villagio, 77,468 square feet of the center has been reserved for retail and restaurant space and 33,041 square feet has been reserved for professional office space.

"The majority of The Villagio's tenants will be open by the end of this year," Veldekens said.

Plans are also in place for the construction of a four-tier parking garage and valet parking.

The retail center is currently 75 percent filled.
