The Idea For This Squidoo Book

This is my squidoo book entitled "Parenting For Guys", a series of lenses for the first time daddy. It is a little bit of what I went through on my journey, and some tips based on my own experiences in bring up a baby. It is not professional advise, and I really suggest you attend some courses before your baby arrives. 9 months isn't as long as it sounds.

Guys are not mentally or emotionally ready to become dads. Notice I said Guys. I never even thought about being a dad. I was trying to build a business, and getting married was a big enough step for me. Before I headed out own my own, I was managing a retail store doing more than $20 million in sales annually. I barely had time to spend with my wife, let alone a baby.

My wife was more ready than I was. Isn't this always the case? I approached parenthood using the only skill I have at my disposal. Management. Just focus on the mission, address the key issues and rally the troops. Surprising, that worked out for me. So I hope you enjoy this book and leave your comments. Let's try to develop this further into something really useful.

Parenting In Sabah

I consider myself to be a lucky person. Living in a beautiful country, one at peace with the world and filled with the many wonders of nature. Not only is this a beautiful place to live, it is a wonderful place to bring up a child.

I get to enjoy nature and the simple things in life with my angel, while at the same time, every modern amenity is available. Living and working in the city is fine, but nothing beats being able to get away from it all. With so much nature beauty, all within a short drive away, there is really no place I would rather be.

For a sneak peek at what natural beauty I see every day, visit www.AboutSabah.com. And maybe someday, you will find your way to our shores.

Before You Go

One last word before you go.

Guys, don't panic when the time comes for your wife to give birth. Yes, the water has broke and it's time to go to the hospital. Don't panic, you still have plenty of time until she goes into labor. The wild car ride to the hospital only happens in the movies, and now is not the time to do something dumb. Hopefully, you would have planned ahead, transportation and the things you need to bring.

It was 12 hours before my wife went into labor, and another 4 hours before our baby was born. So, you have time. Just don't drop by the office on your way to the hospital.
