Media Reviews

TV, Videos, Books, and Movies

Julia Donaldson: Children's Book Author
Since my daughter discovered British author Julia Donaldson, I don't groan at the thought of another book repeat. Not only were Donaldson's books quick to become a favorite of both of my children, but my husband and I are avid fans too. For once, there are books that I don't mind reading time and time again.

Dragon Tales Books, Website, Television Shows, and Videos for Preschoolers
If you are looking for an educational television show for your toddler that they won't outgrow or that won't annoy you, Dragon Tales is the best choice you can make. Not only does the show entertain and educate, but their website and books also teach and entertain toddlers and young children. If you do watch some television with your toddler, Dragon Tales is best choice that you can make.

Best Sesame Street Videos for Toddlers and Preschoolers
Though the show is still a great choice for parents seeking educational television options for their toddlers and preschoolers, I wanted more Big Bird and Grover than Elmo and Zoe. So, I did some research and have purchased what I believe are some of the best Sesame Street videos for toddlers and preschoolers.

The First Look and Find Book Series for Toddlers
I have been pleasantly surprised to find over the past two years, however, that First Look and Find books are a wonderful addition to our book collection. They have helped my toddler's verbal and visual discrimination skills, and provided hours of entertainment for my children and I. Every toddler should own at least one of the First Look and Find series!

The Best Children's Bedtime Books
Over the years, these books have become some of our favorite bedtime stories to share with our children. Some are old classics that our parents read to us, and some are new additions to the world of children's bedtime stories. Each is a special bedtime story to share with children in its own right.

Share Classic Sesame Street with Children with Sesame Street Old School
With the release of Sesame Street Old School, I was able to share episodes from the first 5 seasons of Sesame Street with my children, as well as relive a little of my own childhood in the process. In fact, I highly recommend Sesame Street Old School for families, as the timeless classics presented in them are even better than I remember from my childhood.

Interview with Author Kelley Ann Lovelace
had the opportunity to sit down and listen and talk to children's book author Kelley Ann Lovelace, previously of the corporate world, and talk about her experiences self publishing the recent children's book, Ready, Set, Go Organic! This clearly passionate woman spoke openly and honestly about the experience self publishing her children's book, her husband and daughter, her experiences living overseas, and her strong belief in the benefit of going organic and promoting an organic lifestyle to even the youngest of children.

Baby Gear Reviews

Slings, Diapers, Strollers, and More!

Cotton Babies bumGenius One Sized Pocket Diapers
If I can switch to cloth diapers, anyone can! Here's a great review of the cloth diaper product that made a convert out of me.

EllaRoo Mei Tai Baby Carrier
I thought Snugli baby carriers were all there were on the market and had no idea that there was so much selection out there. It was difficult to narrow the field down to the perfect choice for my older baby, but I did, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Hotslings Fitted Pouch Sling
I knew that I wanted something that was simple to get on and off for wearing my children around the house. I also wanted something small that I could throw in a bag just in case one of my children wanted or needed to be worn unexpectedly when we were out and about. I was drawn to a pouch sling, but worried that my children (3 and 1, both between 20-30 pounds) would be too big and it wouldn't be comfortable. However, when I saw a Hotsling on sale on eBay, I thought it was worth a shot.

Kissaluvs Fitted Cloth Diapers
I was looking for a cloth diaper that would allow my daughter to really feel wetness, as I had read that this could conceivably translate into early potty learning. In addition, I liked the idea of letting my daughter roam the house in just a diaper and a t-shirt and being able to quickly feel when she was wet and change her promptly. So, I decided to try Kissaluvs Fitted Cloth Diapers.

Babylegs
Would BabyLegs end up being a frivolous expense, or would they end up being an essential part of our winter wardrobe and a potty training necessity?

InSTEP Safari Double Swivel Sports Stroller
As parents of two little ones, we quickly found that the Graco DuoGlider wasn't meant for a lot of walking, any jogging, and didn't do well on uneven pavement. We decided to try the an inSTEP double jogging stroller. We purchased ours on sale for $179.99 at amazon. Did it live up to our expectations?
