Parents As Teachers

This is a special space dedicated to the people that are involved in the National recognized program Parents As Teachers.

If this is the first time you know about this free program, this is also a great place to get to know about it through the testimonials, comments and polls included in this lens, which is actually, my first one.

SOME OF THE TOPICS PARENTS LEARN WITH THIS PROGRAM

This is just a random list of some of the topics I remember as I write. There are so many topics that it is not possible to list all of them here.
  • Discipline
  • Nutrition
  • Potty Learning, more commonly known as Potty Training
  • Literacy
  • Sensory experiences
  • Language development
  • Intellectual development
  • Social-emotional development
  • Motor development
  • Stress management

WHY THIS LENS?

Why am I writting in here? What for?

Love your lens! Parents are the first and most important teachers to their children. I'm a former Pre-K Daycare Provider of 13 years and I found that parents do need to be taught many things - it does not come naturally to everyone and we never receive the "How to Be A Great Parent" manual in the hospital! Your work is so important to the lives of our little citizens. Those early years are critical to brain development. What you do is awesome and your Squidoo lens will be helpful to many parents of young children. Keep up the great work !

Finally, here I am. INTRODUCTION.

My 1st personal entry

Wow! I just reviewed this lens after several weeks that I abandoned it. I was about to delete it because I don't find a time to write. As a Parent Educator and a parent of two children, housekeeper and wife, there is no much time left to sit down and add more lines. But today that I reopened my lens to see if it was still there (Ha!) I was surprised that someone wrote something here! :) And it was something positive! Very positive! :)
Now I am motivated to continue.

Within the time that I was away I thought about what I am going to do here. I have so many ideas that it wouldn't be possible to write all of them in this lens.

I have been visiting other lenses, especially the ones with advice for beginners.

I realized that in only one lens you are not going to cover everything. So, I will begin to create more lenses from this one that is the "nucleus". So, stay tunned and come back often to check on my "Bio" for all my additions.
