Penny, My African Grey Parrot is now 10 months old and is a "typical Woman" she talks away all day long. It does help that she sits right in front of me while I am busy on the computer. I talk away to her and she chats back. I have noticed that she listens and a couple of days later she starts to say the words.

She can now speak up to 3 word sentences. I have also noticed that she has her moods. Some days good and other days it is best to ignore until she decides she wants to speak.

I sing to her (Not that I have a good voice) much to the amusement of the lady that helps me with the housework. Penny is trying to sing now as well. Her attempts have us in stitches.

Everyday she comes out with something new. She also copies all the words that my Indian Myner says as well as copies the noises that he makes. By the way his name is Bob.

I have had both birds from chick stage. Birds form a strong bond with their owners. I have noticed that when we have gone away for the weekend and when we come back, both birds refuse to talk to us. A very human charactor trait.

I have just done the tour of Squidoo Top100. There are the most amazing lenses. I have added some to my lenses as well as to my favorites.

I know that I can go back and re-visit them.

Now back to Penny my African Grey and her Moods. It does not matter how trained she is. Penny still has her off days and today was one of those days.

She really is a typical female. She has her moods. Some days you can do what you want to with her and other days she is just not interested.

I think as African Grey's have such a keen perspective they can also and well copy your moods.

This is true as I noticed after my mother passed away, I was so heart sore and penny would talk softly to me. She did not talk loud and she also did not climb all over her cage or her outside stand.

She would look at me with those beautiful eyes as if she understood. I think we do not fully realize just how close we actually become to our pets.

Penny the african grey parrot is getting ready to move house.

I have moved penny's cage a little at a time everyday closer to the main door.

She is getting used to being moved. African Grey parrots are highly sensitive to any change in their daily routines.

The big move is around the corner. Penny will have her whole cage covered up so that she cannot see what is going on. I have found that she is a lot less stressed when her cage is covered up during re-location.

This works very well with all my other birds that I have. I take my own birds with an enclosed trailer so there is minimal handling and noise.

I keep them covered for the first two hours after moving and when I uncover my birds cages I have a tasty treat ready for them. This works extremely well.

Hi there TrudyVan here,

My African Grey Parrot Penny is enjoying her new home and surrounding, now that she has gotten used to it.

She has an enormous cage and her play stand,stands just outside of her cage. She is now able to come out of her cage and crawl around all over her cage and when she gets tired she flies down and comes to look for me.

She loves the attention I give to her after she has flown down from her cage. Penny is a wonderful companion. When I sing and dance, she does it to.

This is classic, she has this deep voice and some of the words come out high pitched. She sounds like a teenager that's voice is breaking.

I owe what I know to Chet. Not only did I purchase his training, I was so impressed I am now an affiliate of his.
