1. The Biggest Loser:
This theme may be a little too close to home for some, but if you have a group of "good sports" it can be very entertaining. You can tell your guests to arrive in oversized clothes filled up to make them look very fat. Now you can organize challenges, not too difficult though, as you do not want to spoil the fun. The prize can then be losing some "fat" and the person that lost the most "fat" after a few "challenges" is the winner and can win some kind of prize. Do not drag this out too long as it will become boring. For the food, you can make lots of snacks that look like "diet" food but that is in fact tasty snacks. I've seen people shaping cheese into "Carrots" and wrapping tasty bites in lettuce too make them look like "cabbages." You can have a lot of fun thinking up tasty snacks this way.
Your decorations will obviously be scales and photos of treadmills, other gym equipment and photos of "fat" people. Once again let your imagination run wild and come up with all kinds of "real" looking props.

2. American Idol.
This one is for the karaoke lovers. With a karaoke machine bring the search for the next American pop star into your very own living room. Set up the stage and invite your guests to hit you with their best shots at stardom. Set up a panel of judges to make comments after each performance. Make sure they understand that it must be fun and that the remarks should not be insulting or embarrassing to the person performing. You can establish a rule that requires everyone to perform at least once. This is a fun party to have but be sure the judges are kind (in other words, no Simon for the sake of fragile egos). The idea is to have fun and not bruised egos.
The food for this party should be "classy" stuff and the decorations must have all the glitz and glamour of the real thing.
3. The Amazing Race
This is a fun birthday party idea because the winner isn't determined by one thing alone. For this party you will have to have a lot of space, it cannot really be pulled of in cramped space. An "Amazing Race" party will require a lot of advanced preparation in order to make it entertaining. If you get it right though, this can really be a fun party. Think of something fun and easy to replace the driving. Think up a few great ideas for challenges that are not too difficult yet challenging enough to give a feeling of accomplishment when completed. This is about working together as a team and having fun. Think of a fun prize for the winners. The best way to organize the eats for this party is to serve a meal with many courses. The courses do not have to be very big. Now, after completing a round of the "race," serve one course of your meal and after the next round, the next course and so on. Plan food that can be served at all the different places where each challenge ends.
4. Survivor
Fans of Survivor know that this is so much more than just a television show. It is a phenomenon that has taken the world by storm. Your first rule of order will be to divide the guests into teams. I recommend drawing toothpicks with different colored plastic on the ends rather than choosing teams. No one must be left out and one team must not have an unfair advantage because they know each other better. Because of the nature of the party, you must have challenges that are both physical and mental to help build a sense of team. Be sure to have an assortment of dollar tree "survival gear" to give out as prizes. Campfire foods such as hot dogs and hamburgers are a good idea and it makes cleaning up easier. After all the games have been played you can settle in for a night of Survivor episodes on DVD.

Creative Party Theme Ideas: A Birthday Party at the Scene of the Crime
These days it is only natural to go to the television for Creative Party Theme Ideas. Shows such as CSI (and the subsequent CSI Miami and CSI New York), NCIS, and Cold Case Files have made crime scenes and crime investigations the new murder mystery parties. These parties can be a great deal of fun if they are properly planned and well executed. Remember it is very important for these parties to be well planned otherwise they can very easily fail.
Scene of the Crime parties are a great favorite with teens and adults alike. If you are considering a creative party theme idea, such as a Scene of the Crime party, you have two possible ways of doing it:
- You can have a real mystery to be solved as the evening progresses. (Sure to be a hit with the teens!)
- You can simply use the theme as a backdrop for your party. (Perhaps a little more to the liking of older people.)
There is no real right or wrong way to do a birthday party. If you want to throw the party that everyone will be talking about, you have to create a crime for the scene that your guests will be investigating. Leave clues all around to help with the investigation.

1. Scene of the crime:
- Decorating your crime scene party can be made realistic with crime scene tape and chalk outlines on the floor. Be sure to make them realistic in size by having someone actually lay down for you to draw the outline.
- Leave fake footprints, fingerprints, and clue cards throughout the room (not too well hidden unless you want people snooping).
- Enlist help when leaving the clues and decorating because of the novelty of this sort of party.
- You do not have to limit the festivities to one room and you can, if you are feeling truly adventurous, have a different case going on in different rooms and have the kids draw numbers for teams and race to solve the crime first.
2. The lab:
- Set up a lab, complete with microscope and tables dedicated to sorting out the evidence.
- Make notes for the shocking conclusion of the crimes in question.
- Make the crimes simple and solvable by leaving clues that the kids will have no trouble finding or deciphering, do not make it too easy on the other hand, leave the kids with a bit of a challenge.
- Use your favorite episode for inspiration if you must and throw in a red herring or two to keep things fun.
3. The food:
We all know how the people in these shows seem to eat fast food all the time. Kids old enough for this kind of party will want some "real" food. Serve the normal pizza, finger foods, chips, dips etc. but, serve it in "take out" containers. Even the drinks can be served out of the typical paper cups. For the birthday cake you can make CIS cake.
