Seth did an internship last year. These individuals where all incredible, brilliant, and very similar to everyone applying. Matt Cheny has helped put this advice together.

FYI--a quick observation--often the vocal followers of Seth create things, but they're mostly noise--not a lot of signal (nor solving real, everyday, offline problems). The quiet followers of Seth are the ones solving real problems. Keep this in mind--there's plenty of problems to solve w/o needing to invent new ones (I killed a personal project after 40 hours of hard work when I realized this was happening to me.)
Even though I'm giving you the 3rd degree--I think you've got great potential in these ideas--the execution will make/break them. You'll only learn by doing. Go for it!
Here was one of the stunts I pulled:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey Megan,
I want to buy you and the rest of the entire Squidoo team lunch!
Here's the deal:
* My application for Seth's internship includes a sandwich as a central motif, so lunch must include sandwiches.
* You order your best guess as to the type of sandwiches each person likes.
* I prefer to do this on a day when Seth is in the office; if he won't be in before Wednesday, I'll still buy you all lunch.
* I will pay for everything, including drinks. If you need, I can arrange for someone else to place and deliver the order.
* (Optional) A copy of my internship application accompanies the sandwiches.
If you're interested, e-mail me back and we can figure out the details--I prefer to surprise everyone, but if you think otherwise, let me know...

Working with Seth is amazing but working with a bunch of individuals who share your passion is even better. Seth brought us together and guided us but I learned the most from sharing ideas with other interns. Brainstorming sessions at 2 am are what it is all about. You can get as much out of the experience as you want. If you want to change something it's always best to do with other people who are trying to do the same thing. This opportunity with Seth is your chance to change your life with the support of other people who are trying to change theirs.

I have to suggest two obvious points, the first is that his application process is different for this internship than mine (mostly because he didn't get what he wanted out of ours...). The second that Seth has already placed his criterion on Squidoo (http://www.squidoo.com/Alternative-MBA) further, I don't meet the qualification requirements, or you'd be competing against me. Because the process is different I can only imagine that my work is not helpful, but anyway.
I wrote (a very bad) email and blog as well as making a Facebook group and a chain of Youtube video's. That said, it is not how I would do it again for the same internship, and definitely not for this.
Did you call him today? You should have (if you had something worth asking. Yet another issue our group had in taking Seth's time).
In any point, the only thing (in my opinion) that you can do now to get the position is to read the lens, pay very close attention to "How to Apply" and "The Questions" spend a lot (a lot) of time making sure that your response answers the questions and demonstrates something you have already done that shows your greatness. I repeat myself, nothing you can do now will make the slightest difference to who Seth selects. You've either done something amazing that shows how great you are, or you haven't, all you can do is write (and write well), a gimmicky application (like mine was) will just simply fail.
Don't give up though, you have done something amazing or you wouldn't have asked me (or be reading this). Your effort and time should be spent telling Seth what you have done and why it's amazing, not on the gimmick.
Oh, Seth already knows what he's written by the way, don't regurgitate it back to him.
I wish you all the best of luck,
Sebastian

2. Have a compelling story. Seth always talks about how we live in a story-driven world. Take this into account when you're creating your application.
3. Demonstrate that you can, have, and will continue to lead. Prove that you're ready to change the world.
Don't waste your time trying to be uber-creative and thinking of different ways to stand out. Just do those three things and you'll have a much better shot.
Also, don't apply to this if you can't fully commit. Seriously.

this until just now, but I had heard the rumors. Unfortunately, I can't participate in the conference call. However, here's my response to request #1 :
I don't believe that my experiences with Seth's earlier internship will have much to do with this new opportunity he's offering, but here's what I can offer: Seth is a most unique and influential leader. He has a broad range of experience and ideas that I'm sure will develop your notions about business, marketing, and leadership. I thoroughly recommend applying yourself to this opportunity -- one that, I trust, will be one of the hardest (and therefore one of the most important) challenges you'll face. That's certainly the greatest value I got from the internship -- being challenged beyond my previous experiences, and at the same time, instructed in how to handle those challenges.
That said, Seth has already expressed that this opportunity isn't for everyone, so know yourself before you apply. If you're apt to blame others when you fail (and fail you will from time to time; it's a rite of passage to success), or if you tend to slow down, hedging your bets at the first sign of adversity, then I suggest you pull back now. But, if you insist on going through with this, you have to start with this one difficult task: find that nagging voice inside your head. It's the voice that tells you to make safe bets, to turn back at the first sign of danger, to stay where the water's warm -- that's your worst demon. You've got to banish him from your mind.
And I gotta go! Good luck to you, Matt.
Sincerely,
Bert Hart
