Paths of Life
In 2005 I had an incredibly difficult year, here is the poem I wrote about the decisions we all have to make along lifes twisting and turning paths.
I found it helped me to work things out by writing my thoughts and feelings down, read on to see how I made sense of this tough part of my life.
All the best !

Paths of Life
Which way to turn?
As you walk down life's paths you will learn,
You'll reach sign posts, choosing which way to turn.
Some of the ways that you turn will be wrong,
These journeys are hard, all up hill, seem so long.
The paths chosen for you as you enter this world,
As you open your eyes "it's a boy, it's a girl".
A baby, a toddler growing up through the years,
Parents building your life, through their hopes and fears.
It's at school that your sign posts begin to appear,
Life's paths seem to grow with each new passing year.
Here at school if you accidentally take the wrong track,
It doesn't take too long to find your way back.
From these early mistakes you soon start to learn,
That it's ok in life to make the odd U-turn.
After this point your life gather pace,
Entering into the world of the adult rat race.
Here the paths that are taken, branch out like a tree
The end of these paths are much harder to see.
A new job, a house, your marriage, that car,
Paths that you choose make you all that you are.
But all of these things sometimes come with a cost,
As your moving too fast and you find you are lost.
You turn back and look at what you once had,
Was this last path taken an idea turned bad?
Having reached life's dead end, things seem nasty and mean,
And you realise this grass is the wrong shade of green.
There's this feeling you get deep down inside,
As you have to bite down and swallow your pride.
Knowing the last path taken was too hard and too long,
If you focus your mind on where you went wrong.
There's a place that feels right, it's here in your heart,
So head to that place you can make a fresh start.
So as you reach the next post, wondering which way to turn,
Remember grass can be greener, but from life's lessons you'll learn!

- what a great & beautiful poem...and lens!!!.....5*...I have always believed that life is about choices and reaping concequences whether good or bad, they are the lessons in our lives, we learn from them, they make us who we are(I have experienced war, cancer etc and CHOSE not to allow them to affect me in a negative way, yes...a choice! being a Christian I believe God is in control and allows us to make these choices.
