Paul Levinsohn
Mr. Levinsohn's education consists of an undergraduate degree, J.D. and M.A. (political science) from Duke University. During law school, Mr. Levinsohn became a member of the Duke Law Journal, and served a three-year term on the Duke University Board of Trustees.
Mr. Levinsohn works as an attorney and businessman and has been involved in a number of real estate and private equity transactions in the past 15 years. Throughout the New York metropolitan area, Mr. Levinsohn has acted as counsel, owned and developed numerous real estate projects. During the last ten years he acquired and sold more than 200 retail properties to public REITs as well as individuals. His experience has helped him negotiate and obtain financing for a diverse range of real estate investments.
In addition to his real estate expertise, Mr. Levinsohn has been involved innumerous private equity transactions. In 2004, Mr. Levinsohn, along with a team of investors, bought and privatized one of the largest convenience store/gas station chains in the northeast. The company was previously listed on the American Stock Exchange and licenses or operates 290 stores in a three-state area. Mr. Levinsohn sold his interest in the company in 2008.
Recently, a group of investors, including Mr. Levinsohn, bought the assets of a New England-based health supplement company, which distributes its products to large retailers such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, and Vitamin Shoppe.
Mr. Levinsohn has also contributed much of his time to public service. He was appointed in 2002 as Chief Counsel to the Governor of New Jersey. In this position, Mr. Levinsohn oversaw a staff of twenty-one attorneys and coordinated all of the legal operations for the Governor's Office. In addition, he served as law clerk for Judge Anne E. Thompson, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey from 1995 to 1997.
Before going into law school, Mr. Levinsohn taught American History in a Warren County, North Carolina high school under the Teach for America program. This program places teachers in rural and inner-city school districts throughout the country.
