The Kinchigune Natura Trail is inland. It starts at Sabaragamuwa University, which runs along the forest and river. As you follow this trail you get to see paddy fields, village houses, vegetables as well as their watering system. As you get further along the trail more birds, butterflies and other forest creatures will be seen.

The hike will take you near picturesque waterfalls and plants you might not see elsewhere.

Canoing is another option to take part of while you are exploring the forest and its rivers. You can take a canoe from the University and travel the Samanalawewa Reservoir. The Belihul Oya River will offer more adventure with a few rapids.

Bambarakada Falls is a site to see. The waterfall is found inside a basin like valley with steep rocks, tropical forests, and plenty of beauty. In fact many of the waterfalls will have a height of 240 meters.

From the inner section of Sri Lanka you can then move to the ocean and beach. On the beach you can take horseback rides to go into the forest or just further down the beach. The beaches in Sri Lanka are visited by turtles in January to April. During this time the turtles will lay eggs as well as hang out closer to shore. For a scuba diver this is a dream come true. There are several locations to teach you how to dive or even snorkel to experience the wonders of their ocean. There will be plenty of tropical fish as well as coral reefs around the island.
