- My husband is quite good with birds. We had a pair of cockatiels and he taught the male to whistle TV themes, like to the Flintsones, and Andy Griffith Show. He was quite a character...the bird that is. You are right. Birds are VERY smart, especially parrots.

- Excellent lens! Thank You for sharing this with us! Very informative! I also have a lens on bird cages if you want to check it out. I have a lovebird and a parakeet, Used to have 2 lovebirds but one sadly passed away, we put the lovebird and parakeet in the same cage, and to my surprise, they bonded quickly and are best friends now! Cuddling just like they were both lovebirds :)

- Great lens on having a bird as a pet. You have good information on the different types of pet birds. We got parakeets a few years ago and adopted a rescue Cockatoo. I never had birds as pets before but it is really way more fun than I ever thought.

- Came back to review what I'd missed the first time on this great article. I've gotten more used to my new parakeet and have seen the intelligence you speak of. Amazing bird.

- I just got a parakeet for my elderly mom to watch. I've been working on hand taming him (or her) but it's slow going. So far, he'll do "up" and hop on my finger. He's trained me though - when he comes to the far edge of his cage and peers at me, he wants a treat. Ha. He gets one!

- Very nice lens, I have had several Budgie's in my life, even had one that talked. Fascinating creatures, motivated me to learn how to fly ultralight airplanes. Earned the title bird man from the local airport.
Thanks

- Great lens, loved it. Brought back memories of my father, he had a talking Budgie.
I also used to breed budgies, but have given it up, as it does require time to look after them properly.
Thanks.

- Ah, do you know that I have long admired birds and watching them in their natural habitat. You see, birds are such beautiful creatures and so enchanting to watch and photograph. I've had such a delightful time visiting your birds -- thank you.
