PhD to CEO ...You do a PhD on something you love and then you need to get it to the world
I was a child in hospital for two years.
I hoped that by doing a PhD it would change the hospital world for kids.
They all said the PhD was great. Then no one funded it.
My PhD won award and really helped ill children.
Then some money appeared and then that stopped.
So one day I said lets make my PhD into a product.
How many more PhDs end up never been used....unless they make lots of money. Hospitals with few options. Parents left with no empowerment.
I wish it could have been easy.
The top list of things to do when you decide to take your PhD to CEO
1) Get a patent. (if possible)
2) Publish research not the way you do it. Unless the patent has been granted
3) Get as much input from the users as possible.
4) Try and shop around for grants.
5) Get a mentor who is not after your money
6) When you pay developers to do work e.g. make the next stage of the product, do not pay too much upfront. Lots of developers claim they can do a lot%u2026but they sometime can not deliver and you need the money to pay some one else to do the work
7) Get a good contract for you
8) get to know a lawyer who likes you and what you are working on.
9) Make sure the lawyer explain all contracts to you.
10) if you work with anyone know their motives (if you can)
Lets make it like Disney..so kids will always access it.
