HeatWave
Because I am so very free, here's a topic to whore HeatWave!
SOME FAQS
Q: What IS HeatWave?!
A: We are a couple team, consisting of Gwee and I (Cyn). We provide phat pants to Malaysians, and have made a name for ourselves in Malaysian phats pants (even if I do say so myself). Just look around you; how many HeatWave phats do you see? Very Happy We also provide reflective t-shirts, reflective wristbands, and glowsticks, and are looking to expand our line further. I'll keep you posted!
Why is HeatWave THE brand to go for?
A: We have undergone a lot of research to get the best combination of all materials that make good phat pants. Quality and satisfaction of the customer is our main goal; we provide a lifetime guarantee on our phats. Just come back to us anytime anything needs fixing, and we'll fix it for you free of charge.
Also quoting Hayden:
There a few tailors that make phatties in KL, unfortunately it seems as though they are more akin to bell bottom than true phatties. Meaning that the tailors make the phats too fitted around the waist and thigh and then flair the legs out. Therefore (at this point), I am only aware that Heatwave makes authentic-Melbourne styled-phat pants, see the contact details below. Also, Heatwave ship their product world wide; just contact them for shipping charges and payment methods.
Why are phats good? We guarantee you'll get phats and not bell-bottoms. People like our phats so much, our second biggest market is in Brisbane, Australia, with inquries coming in from Germany, UK, Thailand, and Holland. The difference between us and other Malaysian made phats you can find, is all in the experience. You won't know what the best is, until you've tried it. Wink
Q: I am making my own phats. Can I buy logo/reflectors from you?
A: No. Not to be rude, but we invested a load of cash into this business so that we can provide phats to anyone that wants them, therefore:
1. Costing becomes very, very complicated and we cannot adhere to every single demand that customers bring forward; I myself spend up to 3 hours every day discussing with potential customers.
2. Our original intent of this business was to make complete phats for people who want them, at an affordable price with total customization. We prefer not to divert from that objective.
Q: Can I buy just the suspenders from you all?
A: No. Refer to the answer above.
Also, as I have mentioned time and time again, we will sell suspenders to customers who buy phats from us, that includes customers who originally don't want the suspenders, but intend to buy them later.
Q: Do you make plain phats?
A: Yes we do. We make two types of plain phats; the basic pair with two long pockets behind, is RM250, while the other with contrast panels on the sides, is RM280. All prices are inclusive of reflective piping. Don't want reflective piping? That can be arranged, at a lower cost.
Q: How long do I have to wait to get my phats?
A: It depends on how many orders are in process. If we have currently no orders in the making, you can get your phats within 3-5 days.
Q: How do I know when my phats are ready?
A: I will call you. *duh*
Q: Do you charge extra for different colours of reflectors?
A: Nope. You could have all the colours available and the price would still be the same as if you just use one. We have 14 different colours; silver (available in stripes ONLY), white, yellow, gold, fluorescent orange, fluorescent pink, fluorescent green, apple green (reflects as GOLD), light blue, dark blue, light pink (rose), red, light purple, dark purple.
Q: So how do you determine the price of the phats?
A: It would be way to complicated to tell you exactly how. It depends on the amount of reflectors used, and the complexity.
Q: I'm from Selangor. How do I pay you?
A: You can either meet up with us to pay the RM200 deposit, or you can bank it in, more details on that if you ask me about it. Once we pass you the phats, you have to pay the balance of the amount. No delivery charges. Means you'd have to meet up with me or Gwee no matter what.
Q: I'm not from Selangor, but within Malaysia. How do I pay you?
A: You will have to pay the full amount of the phats + postage. Bank it in, and keep the receipt. Within Malaysia, we will be using Pos Laju, cheap and reliable.
Postage within West Malaysia: RM10
Postage within East Malaysia: RM15
Q: I'm not from Malaysia. How do I pay you?
A: Telegraphic transfer to our bank account, of the full amount of the phats +postage. To refrain from having to make frequent visits to the post office, I'll only let you know the postage price when you have confirmed that you are making phats with us.
Note: For Australian customers, the postage for ONE pair of phats is as follows:
Air parcel: $ 20 (delivery within 10 working days)
Pos Laju (Malaysian Express Mail): $ 45 (delivery within 2 working days)
Prices vary according to how many phats are sent with each parcel; cheaper with increased quantity.
Q: What about measurements?
A: We just need your waist in inches, where you wear your phats, and the length from your waist to your shoe. Don't measure down to the floor, because your phats will tend to slip down when you dance and will end up like rotten cabbage at the bottom.
Q: What materials are you using?
A: We are currently using TC (polyester mix cotton) with denim contrasts, since it's a whole lot lighter, it doesn't shrink, and the colour doesn't run. The material is also very durable and breathes well.
Q: Where's your shop?
A: We don't have a shop. Not currently, anyway. All transactions are done either ONLINE through MSN or mail, or face to face. Call us up to make an appointment to meet up, if that is preferred.
Q: How do I send in my design?
A: Find anyway possible. We're not particular. If you discuss with us online, you can either use paint, photoshop, edit a current pic of phats, draw and scan etc. and save in .jpg/.jpeg format and send it to us via MSN or mail. If possible, send it to either Gwee OR me, try not to send it to us both. It will be easier to deal with each transaction that way.
Note: Please try and refrain from designing an exact copy of an existing pair of phats. We respect our current customer's effort into designing their very own pair, and would prefer not to see copies of phats in the Malaysian scene.
Q: I don't know what to design. Can you guys design a pair for me?
A: Yes, if you want. However, you need to let us know several things before we help you design your phats:
1. Your budget. Please don't give me a ridiculous range such as RM150-200. It's just not possible. For reflector phats, the price would have to be over RM300.
2. Your preferred colours.
3. Roughly what it is that you want. Stripes? A certain logo or design eg: flames, autobot, a cartoon character, an abstract design etc. All the details that you want.
Note: We do not recommend that you ask us to design for you, as phats are expensive and you should be very sure that you are 100% happy with your design before you make your phats. For designing of phats, please contact Gwee.
Q: How do we contact you?

Approximate prices
HeatWave Prices
Plain RM250 / RM280 (approx AUD $100)
Minimal Reflectors RM350-RM400 (approx AUD $126 to $145)
Full Reflectors max + logos RM400-RM600 (approx AUD $145 to 216)
Suspenders/Braces /Harness +60-70 (approx AUD $22 to 26)
Note: All prices are approximately HALF of that from Australia. I know there are alot of people who are unaware of the Australian prices, and therefore feel we are expensive. The COST to make phats itself is terrible high, plus all the work needed for customization, and to ensure quality, makes our phats affordable in comparison to the Australian phats.
I won't post pictures, I'm really too lazy to upload them! So sorry...maybe next time when I've got nothing else to do.
We haven't got our website up yet, but in the meantime HeatWave is now on Multiply and Myspace, with our pics on Multiply only. Thanks!
