Electrophysiology is the study of the electrical properties of biological cells and tissues. If we lose thousands of cells a day that are dying off then what retains the memory in our bodies?
Could it be protein or a single cell?

All it takes is one cell to have a sizable memory. Linked and coded to it's original destination the cell remembers everything.

It has been proven by taking flat worms which lay flat when there is light on them and curl up in the dark. After testing them and training them that with an electric shock everytime the light came on, the worms would soon learn and relate that the shock of electric and the light were associated. So after about 100 shocks they soon learned to put two and two together.

Then the researchers split the worms in half giving them two heads and two tails, as you know worms regenerate themselves. So figuring that you have two heads and two tails and if the memory is retained in the head then the two heads sections would react to the light as they were trained to do so. To their surprise the tail sections did not have to be retrained, they also reacted to the light without the need to shock them. So then what the researchers did was to cut both worms up and fed them to other worms. They found that when they put the new worms in the same scenario, they did not have to be trained with the need of the electric shock. The worms would curl up automatically as soon as the light was turned on. So scientists believe that memory is held somehow when in protein. Or at least that is what it is made of.

When the brain suffers some traumatic experience, it seems to short circuit the memory system. So this might lead us to believe that memory is held within electric, or needs electric stimuli to work. The answer is that it does need electric to work, for the fact that you need to fire your neurons to get access to that part. The question is what part? The cerebral cortex would be a good place to start. But if memory is held with the brain then how would the two tails remember to react to the light? So the body retains the memory and holds it's current value in history. Cloning has proved that you can from a single cell create a duplicate of the original matter. But what does this mean?

Does it mean that somewhere out in space is our single unit left over after death floating around and somehow we are able to come back to earth several times. Or Maybe it is all just a dream? conciousness and unconciousness?

I just found out that we produce higher energy when we are asleep then when we are awake. When we are awake and concious we have higher brain waves but lower amplitude, yet when we are asleep are brain waves are slower but the energy output is higher. If this is the case then why are we not tried when we wake up? I would think that you would be more tired after using a higher energy then a lower one?

As most researchers have found out, sleep is one way for our brains to clear out our daily events, and some how files through it to select which parts of the day should go into long term memory, and which should be discarded. Most of our famous studiers of the brain like Jung and Freud have said that dreams are mostly wishful thoughts, giving sex the highest ranking for one of the top reasons for why we dream. Most of peoples dreams pertain to sexual desires and wants. I thought that one person I read about stated that dreams hold no economical or educational value. I do beg to differ, because I have used an excellant dream dictionary and was amazed by it's accuracy of what went on in my daily events.

I have experienced dreams and looked up there definition, and then went about my day and was shocked at how well it read out. For some quick examples once I had dreamt about 4 dogs on a brick wall, being the person I am I helped the dogs get across in my dream. As I woke, I looked up the definiton, come to find out dogs are bad dream symbols and you should kill them in your dream for it to be cancelled out. But In any case I went to work and my chef's coat was missing which made me upset, then my knife was also missing, so I was not at all happy. Then we had this other chef named Hudson who started to provoke me. After about a half hour I walked over to Hudson and asked him " If you know I am upset already why can't you just leave me alone?" After a few more words I found he had struck me in the jaw. I held my ground and told myself he is not worth it and turned and walked away. I told the manager and somehow, I found myself getting sent home and hudson getting to work out the night, which I felt was unfair. But after I had walked home all upset I was there about a half hour and my brother called, and it was the first time we really got to talk since I had seen him in Arizona. Now I know I went off a little, but folks the fact is that I had dreamt of four dogs, four bad signs, and then within my day four bad things happened to me.

Now what is also so funny is that I can remember that dream, as well as I can remember the events that took place that day. How are the two connected? Can dreams help to guide us? In the bible several prophets were known to interpret kings dreams, as well as their own, and I guess I should add with accuracy.

Since 1995 I have been led to believe that if you follow your dreams and your heart you will be successful in life, case in point.

Also in 1995, I had just purchased my very first car at age 33, it was a big ole boat Cordoba gray primer loud. Well, I had the car in this gas station close to my house to be repaired for the carburator. Unfortunatly, I did not have alot of money so I left the car there and was making payments. This one saturday morning I could remember this dream that I had about my grandparents house and this hope chest that they had in the bedroom, I used to sleep in. In my dream I had openned the chest to find all kinds of jewelry, somewhat like a pirates treasure. So when I awoke I looked up the dream in my dictionary, it said something to the effect that a stranger will help you inadverently towards your future goal.

So as I wiped the sleep out of my eyes, took a slug of Pepsi and walked out the door. Walking the few blocks to the mechanics thinking about the dream. As I walked in the owner was there at the counter, and with a smile said "I am so glad you are here. I have been trying to call you, I want you to know that to fix your car it will cost alot of money, But this is what I was going to ask you. If you want Bill you can trade me your car, I will credit you the 125.00 you already have down on parts and I will sell you this Mazda out front for 125.00 dollars." I thought about it, went and looked at the Mazda, a nice small blue car. I got in and smiled and never looked back. Now even though I know I got rooked because the Cordoba was a classic and I knew he had a buyer for it. But the smaller car was much more efficient for my needs. And for that matter lasted me two years I believe and sadly lost it due to impounding.

But again here we have a dream that I remembered and within forty minutes of my waking the interpretation comes true. Or at least I read it that way because really the Mazda turned out to be my first car. And it did help me toward my goal and he did not really know me.
So what I am getting at is how did my dream know that this was going to occur, and where does it lie in the Laws Of Probabilites

Mitochondria provide the energy a cell needs to move, divide, produce secretory products, contract - in short, they are the power center of the cell. They are about the size of bacteria but may have different shapes depending on the cell type.

Mitochondria are membrane-bound organelles, and like the nucleus have a double membrane. The outer membrane is fairly smooth. But the inner membrane is highly convoluted, forming folds called cristae. The cristae greatly increase the inner membrane's surface area. It is on these cristae that food (sugar) is combined with oxygen to produce ATP - the primary energy source for the cell.

After reading more of Guy Muchie I am finding more ways to look at the universe other then just being here. As Mr Murchie explains it, we are all one with one, that life is made up of reality and abstract. Thoughts in the mind are abstractions, whereas looking at a rock might be looking at a solid object, but when you think of it's size and mass in relationship to it's surroundings, then you will be thinking in abstract. It is kind of liking playing that squeeze their head game, where you can fit someones head in between your two fingers, and you crush it. It is a little kids game for boredom. But anyways thinking abstracally is strange because it opens the world in a different way.

You now not only look at objects as being there, but you are also aware of their shape and size, and how when you back up it gets smaller and as you approach it gets bigger. This is the spiritual way of seeing things for what they truly are. Because of molecules spinning in certain orbits; we have tables, and chairs, and tv's. It is so hard to imagine the combination of molecules that make up a television set. Now logic to me says when I put my arm on this desk, if everything is spinning then my arm should technically go through it like butter. But because of gravity and compression of certain molecules the desk is able to hold its shape. But to me I ask is the desk really here? In abstract thinking, you seem to fall into the dream world of the unconciousness. Stephen Leberge of Berkley, California has people walking around asking, "am I awake or am I dreaming?" When you see the world in all it's dimensions it truly is a scary place. Abstract thinking has been around for eons, The bible mentions awareness within the first few chapters when Adam and Eve knew they were naked. Some would say this then give man freewill, but that is not true, this is just when humans first became aware of their surroundings. True Adam named all the creatures, but at that time he was not aware of what they were.

What purpose animals serve on earth and that we are the same as an animal, in close relationship with it. When Adam an Eve became aware they learned all this and man soon learned that he was related to alot more of the universe and surroundings.

HONOLULU-Sound waves can hitch a ride along magnetic fountains that shoot out from inside the Sun and help to heat up the solar atmosphere, according to a new study presented here at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society.

Long thought to be trapped in the Sun's interior, energetic sound waves can actually leak out through magnetic portals.

"The Sun's interior vibrates with the peal of millions of bells, but the bells are all on the inside of the building," said lead researcher Scott McIntosh of the Southwest Research Institute in Colorado. "We've been able to show how the sound can escape the building and travel a long way using the magnetic field as a guide."

The new findings shed light on a decades-old mystery as to why the Sun's atmosphere is so much hotter than the visible surface of the Sun. "It's getting warmer as you move away from the fire instead of cooler, certainly not what you would expect," said McIntosh.

While the Sun's visible surface is a steamy 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5,538 degrees Celsius), the chromosphere, a thin layer of plasma sandwiched between the visible surface and the Sun's outer atmosphere called the corona, soars to 20,000 degrees Fahrenheit (11,100 degrees Celsius). And the corona reaches temperatures of more than 100 times hotter than the Sun's surface.

The chromosphere appears as a ruby-red "ring of fire" around the moon during a total solar eclipse. Understanding how this layer is heated has implications for Earth's climate, as this "ruby" chromosphere is responsible for the deep ultraviolet radiation shining down on our planet.

Sound trap

In the past, scientists have used the Sun's sound waves as a window into the solar interior, where the sound waves are trapped by the star's visible surface, called the photosphere.

The Sun's "interior is flooded with these energetic sound waves," McIntosh said. "These waves are not your garden-variety sound waves." For one, they have extremely low frequencies, making them inaudible to us.

"They also pack much more of a punch than regular sound waves," McIntosh said. The energy would be equivalent to about 2,000 Watts per square foot.

Cambridge, MA - Long predicted by theory, the Smithsonian's Submillimeter Array has found the first conclusive evidence of an hourglass-shaped magnetic field in a star formation region. Measurements indicate that material in the interstellar cloud is dense enough to allow it to gravitationally collapse, warping the magnetic field in the process.

Astronomers Josep Girart (Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia, Spanish National Research Council), Ramprasad Rao (Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Academia Sinica), and Dan Marrone (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) studied the protostellar system designated NGC 1333 IRAS 4A. This system of two protostars is located approximately 980 light-years from Earth in the direction of the constellation Perseus.

They reported their findings in the August 11 issue of the journal Science.

"We selected this system because previous work had offered tantalizing hints of an hourglass-shaped magnetic field," explained Marrone. "The Submillimeter Array offered the resolution and sensitivity we needed to confirm it."

NGC 1333 IRAS 4A is part of the Perseus molecular cloud complex - a collection of gas and dust holding as much mass as 130,000 suns. This region is actively forming stars. Its proximity to Earth and young age make the Perseus complex an ideal laboratory for studying star formation.

Theorists predict that collapsing molecular cloud cores - the seeds of star formation - have to overcome the support provided by their magnetic field in order to form stars. In the process, the competition between gravity pulling inward and magnetic pressure pushing outward was expected to produce a warped, hourglass pattern to the magnetic field within these collapsed cores.

Using the Array, Marrone and his colleagues observed dust emission from IRAS 4A. Because the magnetic field aligns the dust grains in the cloud core, the team could measure the magnetic field's geometry and estimate its strength by measuring the polarization of the dust emission.

"With the special polarization capabilities of the SMA we see the shape of the field directly. This is the first textbook example of theoretically predicted magnetic structure," said Rao.

The data indicate that, in the case of IRAS 4A, magnetic pressure is more influential than turbulence in slowing star formation within the cloud core. The same likely is true for similar cloud cores elsewhere.

Despite the moderating influence of the magnetic field, IRAS 4A is dense enough for gravitational collapse to continue. Approximately a million years in the future, two sunlike stars will shine where only a dust-cloaked cocoon lies today.

The SMA is a collaborative project of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) and the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA) in Taiwan. It is located atop Mauna Kea in Hawaii.

Headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA) is a joint collaboration between the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and the Harvard College Observatory. CfA scientists, organized into six research divisions, study the origin, evolution and ultimate fate of the universe.

Vast magnetic cocoons associated with galaxies whose black holes have stopped eating may be responsible for accelerating charged particles called cosmic rays to within a whisker of the speed of light.
It could explain one of the great mysteries of astrophysics - how enormously energetic cosmic rays make it to Earth, when common sense says they should long ago have run out of steam.
Cosmic rays are high-speed atomic nuclei, most commonly of hydrogen. Most come from objects within our galaxy, such as supernova remnants and pulsars.
But ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) - each packing the punch of a baseball - are an outstanding mystery. Although it is conceivable that they are produced near the Milky Way by the decay of super-heavy dark matter particles or by defects in space-time, the most likely sources are the most powerful objects in the universe - 'active' galaxies whose colossal black holes are devouring nearby matter, and gamma-ray bursts. These are far beyond our galaxy - and herein lies a very serious problem.
The problem arises because every cubic centimetre of space contains about 400 relic photons from the big bang fireball. They have little energy, but seen from the point of view of a speeding cosmic ray, they are enormously boosted in energy, becoming high-energy gamma rays. The interaction of cosmic rays with these gamma rays continually saps the very highest energy cosmic rays of energy. Therefore, we should detect none of them on Earth - but we do.
Gregory Benford of the University of California in Irvine, US, and Raymond Protheroe of the University of Adelaide in Australia have a solution.
Magnetised cocoonsThey point out that a few per cent of the volume of the universe is filled by giant magnetised cocoons of plasma, or charged particles. These were carved out by "jets" stabbing out from the supermassive black holes at the heart of active galaxies.
"These colossal magnetic structures persist even when the galaxies have ceased their activity," says Protheroe. "And they store truly vast amounts of energy in their fields."
Benford and Protheroe point out that over billions of years, the slow decay of the magnetic fields inside such fossil cocoons induces an electric field. "These electric fields are strong enough to accelerate cosmic rays to ultra-high energies," says Protheroe.
UHECRs on their journey to Earth pass through many such cocoons. "And the electric fields can repeatedly boost the energy, counteracting the effect of big bang photons," says Benford. "Contrary to expectations, ultra-high-energy cosmic rays can make it to Earth."
Others think the mechanism is intriguing. "Given what we know now, I think [decaying magnetic fields] are the least implausible explanation of ultra-high energy cosmic rays," says Roger Blandford of Stanford
