I attend the Comic-Con International at San Diego every summer on crutches. I don't take my wheelchair because of the crowds. If I could find someone who would PIMP my chair out to the EXTREME, so it was a FANTASY sci-fi machine, I'd take it, because I've talked to people in wheelchairs. They aren't noticed by the walking attendees. People in wheelchairs are snacked in the head by bags, poster tubes, toys, large model kits (because this is not just a comic book convention, it's "POPULAR ARTS"). People is wheelchairs are mistaken for tables and furniture. So, heah, I think it's a GREAT idea to pimp out a wheelchair. BIGGER. WIDER. LIGHT IT UP. MAKE IT EYE-CATCHING and IMPRESSIVE. Something Fantastic. Show off your individuality.

I clicked 'no' because although some modifications are fun, wheelchairs are SO EXPENSIVE and I need it not just for going out and about socially and to work, but also for job interviews, client meetings, funerals... so until I'm rich enough that I can have one Formal Chair and one Everyday Chair and one Weekend Chair, then it's subtle black accessories only. :(

My husband was in a really bad car accident before I met him and he explained how miserable he was in his wheelchair. He was a star athlete prior to his accident so being stuck in a wheelchair had to have been terrible or so I would imagine...
He's out of it now though and I think he walks perfectly fine (if you would like to see pictures of him, his car after the accident and pictures of what happened to him, there's a link to one of his many web sites on my Squidoo page) and if you contact him for any reason, I have no problem with you telling him where you found out about his sites...

- I live in the uk and i really wish they would do a progam called PIMP MY WHEELCHAIR i would be the first to apply! Not only is it fustrating having to use a wheelchair but they are so ugly unless you are loaded to buy a top spec one.Please Please Please help us wheelchair users look cool and sofisticated !

- Hi Kate: Thanks! I think that a good lens should do all three things. Why shoud communication always be one way? Why not an interactive approach? This lens offers products to bling out a wheelchair. But it also asks the readers for ideas about what they are looking for. The next great idea for wheelchair bling could be yours.
