Get Free Traffic By Using A Free Ping Service

Pinging your website, blog or feed is a great Free way to get traffic.

Pinging lets the search engines know that you have updated your content. Search engines such as Google and Bing like fresh updated content and will give it higher ranking in the search results.

Simply submit your your site or feed to these ping services when you update or add new content. You can submit your site by by copying your URL (The address at the top of the page that begins http:www.mywebsite.com.) and pasting it in the box the pinging service indicates.

Your feed would be submitted the same way if the site accepts feeds. Not all sites do, so you will need to read the instructions on the submission page.

Take the Ping Poll

You should ping after a major update, so the search engines know you have new content. I don't always do that due to either lack of time, or I'm feeling lazy. I have noticed traffic from the search engines picks up quicker if I do take the time to ping.

My List Of Ping Services In No Particular Order

I want to provide a word of caution when using this list.

Do Not submit to all the ping services. Each service will usually update the many of same directories and search engines, so by submitting to more than one ping service it can be considered spamming. Pick you favorite ping site and use just that one.

You only need to submit to one ping service!

It will not work for some reason if you use the RSS field provided. It does work just fine if you only use the Name and URL fields only.

Another Free Way To Get Traffic

You don't have to wait for the search engines to find your website, you can submit your site directly to the search engines to crawl and index. Keep in mind that it still might take a bit of time as I am sure they have a long list.

Add your URL to Google: Share your place on the net with us. We add and update new sites to our index each time
we crawl the internet.
Add your URL toYahoo: Submit a Website or Webpage To Yahoo
Bing URL Submission: Submit your site to Bing.

Generally the web crawler, MSNBot, can find most pages on the Internet. However if your site does not appear on Bing, you can send in the address (URL).

Hello. Quick question. I want to ping my bookmarks but what url do I use to put in the ping box? Is there a certain one that I use after I like or bookmark a website or do I. Just paste my url of my bookmark site in the ping box even if I have several bookmarks saved?

Hi,

It's usually not necessary to ping your bookmarks. You ping only if you need your content crawled and indexed. Bookmarking, social media and other high content sites are usually crawled often, so there is no need to ping.

Also, pinging a bookmarking profile too often can be considered spamming and can eventually cause you problems. You may want to read my lens on bookmarking. It has some excellent tips on how to get the most from it.

I read this a while ago and I think it's even more helpful now that I am working on the improving my lenses parts. Thanks for taking the time to put up these lenses.
