Pizza Delivery Anyone?
Ever since I can remember, pizza has been part of my life. Making homemade pizza with my dad was always fun as we got to put whatever we wanted on as our topping. Sometimes it worked, other times...well it just looked good if not entirely edible. Every Tuesday night was pizza night. As we got a little older, our pizza making skills improved and we got pretty good at whipping together the old homemade pizza.
Hitting teenage years, laziness kicked in and so after some negotiations, we convinced dad that pizza delivery was better than making our own. Looking back, I regret our breaking of tradition as it was not just about making pizza. It was about the time we shared together, telling stories, jokes, and having a good time.
Now that I have kids, and they are getting to the same age I was when the homemade pizza tradition started, I am reviving it. My passion is rekindled and fascination regrown. I have decided to share some pizza recipes, stories, history, legends and laughs with you all.
Along with some friends, a pizza delivery or two, and some idle time, we have pieced together a network of sites that indulge in pizza history, as well as some entertaining ideas. On top of this lens, you will also find us on Facebook at Melbourne Pizza Delivery and on a blog of the same name.
If you have any pizza stories we would love to hear them!! Don't forget to grab yourself a slice of pizza, wherever else in the world you may be.

Which Toppings Are Tops?
What is your favourite pizza recipe?
It's said that there is no end to the possibilities and combinations of toppings for pizza. As one person put it, the only limit to pizza toppings and combinations is your imagination. A look at what the world is eating on their pies proves that to be true. So which toppings are tops here in Melbourne and abroad?U.S. Tops The Pizza World
The United States is far and away the biggest consumer of pizza (although at Melbourne Pizza Delivery we aim to do our fair share!). The topping that's tops in America is the traditional pepperoni, making up somewhere around 36% of U.S. pizza orders. Next in line is said to be hamburger, with other popular American pizza toppings being mushrooms, onions, sausage, peppers, and of course, extra cheese (does that count as a topping or just an extra??).
Pizza Around The World
Pizza is a highly diversified dish when you consider it on a global scale. By no means do other cultures feel restricted by the American diet. Pizza toppings around the world are very much influenced by what is traditional for the culture and society. For example,
* In India pickled ginger and mutton are tops.
* Brazilians prefer to top their pizzas with green peas.
* Japan has an interesting love of squid on pizza, as well as Mayo Jaga-a concoction of mayonnaise, bacon, and potato.
* The Russians lean on the side of the sea, favoring red herring and mockba (sardines, mackerel, tuna, salmon, and onions).
* Costa Rican pizza lovers prefer coconut on their pies.
* The Dutch do it double, with the trademark "Double Dutch"-a pizza topped with double cheese and double meat (usually beef), and double the onions.
* Saudi Arabians do not eat pork, so their meat toppings are always 100% beef.
Here At Home
And what do we love in Australia? Shrimp, of course, and barbeque, too; and we're known for our love of pineapple on our pizza pies. Incidentally, barbeque is one flavor the Americans are finally catching onto, as well as ham and pineapple combinations. Seems maybe they haven't quite cornered the entire industry yet.

- Great Lens Yang. The problem with Pizza is that its tasty but not the healthiest food. I had to go off fried food and the pizza stuff for a while and eat some more veggies-see my health lens. Do you do a veggie pizza?
