Easy Pizza
Food for a tight budget.
She actually did try making everything herself a couple of times with differing results. It wasn't always the best result, but she is a good cook, so it wasn't too bad.... :)
She knew about this method of making pizza previously and decided to give it a try. When I saw it I asked her how she knew about it. She said, "Doesn't everyone?"
Anyway, I digress, on with the recipe:
Here's what you will need.
English muffins. (Cheaper store brand will work)
OR
You can use Pita Bread (for thinner crust).
OR
Any kind of bread product that strikes your fancy I was thinking even a hot dog bun or hamburger bun would be good.
Pizza toppings. (sausage, peperoni, etc.)
Mozzarella Cheese. (Shredded, you can shred it yourself for extra savings.) You can also throw in a little cheddar, or any other kind of cheese you want, for extra, or different, flavor.
Pizza sauce (Ready made Pizza Sauce from a store). As commented, you can use salsa, instead. For me, I think I'd rather use a taco mix and hamburger, but I'm not much for salsa. Your choice! (Are we still making pizza?! :) )

Pizza Stuff!
Directions
Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees.
Just take an English muffin(or Pita), or a couple of them. Split them up (halves) and lay them down on a cookie sheet(can cover with tin foil to keep it clean). Spread pizza sauce on them, put on your choice of toppings and then the cheese. Pop them in the oven for about 10 minutes (I'm guessing on the time, so keep your eye on them.) You want the cheese to melt and for it to cook a little. When you take it out the English muffins will look just like little pizzas. If you think it's cooked but want it browned a little put the oven on low broil for a few seconds. Keep your eye on them if you broil. Broil gets hot fast!
Yum! My 5 year old went crazy and ate almost 3 of them. If she eats more than one of anything that means she likes it. If she eats more than two, then she really loves it. So success, without waiting 30 minutes for the pizza delivery.
If you want the crust (the english muffin half) to be a little crunchy, put them in the oven by themselves for a few minutes before decorating them with sauce, cheese and toppings. To make this process better/faster put the oven on Low Broil. Careful not to burn them!
If you're wondering if this is cheaper. Yes! It's a lot cheaper to do this yourself than to buy a pizza. To make it even cheaper make sure you buy everything in bulk, especially if you have a lot of kids around that are going to love these things. :)
This will have you salivating all over them before they even get cooked. Instead of getting the cold pizza delivery you get them fresh and hot.
Good luck!
Music about Pizza!
Side notes:
The comment was made that it will also work on a bagel, instead of the English Muffin or Pita. This started me thinking. Does it matter what kind of bread product you use for the crust? I was thinking you could use the end of a loaf of bread, or even just a piece of bread, any type.
Then another thought. You could even use a tortillas shell. Am I getting ridiculous now? :)
With this kind of a recipe anything is possible. It's much faster that waiting for the pizza delivery to arrive.

This is a really great, quick recipe! I also like taking a bit more time and using biscuit dough (the kind in the tube already pre-separated). I roll them out flat and top with sauce and cheese. Or, for a more 'grown-up' dish, I'll add some olive oil, roma tomatoes, chicken, and even spinach. Pop them in the oven and bake 10-13 minutes and voila - a yummy mini pizza on a budget!

Its a funny thing about pizza. Making it yourself is always a hit or miss. Either good, or...not. If you find a good pizza place they can usually make it good every time. When they don't its time to go somewhere else. :)

- I love english muffin pizzas! My mom used to make them when I was younger and I still make them sometimes. They're VERY easy to make and taste great. My favorite is when there's lots of parmesan and mozzarella cheese and diced pepperoni on top. Mmmm...I'm suddenly hungry! :)

- Don't get me wrong, when it boils right down to it, fresh is always the best. However, for something fast and easy, I usually have some of those mini frozen pizzas on hand and just add more cheese and toppings to it, then throw it in the toaster ove for about 6 to 7 minutes for a perfect little snack or meal. Great pizza lens though. Who doesn't love quick and easy?

- Cute idea for a lens. Parents always need quick meal ideas. We love making our own pizzas. It's so easy - we just buy the ready-made crusts. But you can add healthy toppings like spinach, tomatoes, etc. and it's sooo quick. It is faster than takeout. And so fun to make. Kids can help with that part too.

- Sounds like an easy way to do it with stuff you've got on hand. I remember in 7th grade Home Ec we made pizzas using a can of those ready-to-bake biscuits that you can get in the refrigerated section, and they made quite the tasty crust too. Of course, these days you can just buy pizza crusts at the store. Hm, I feel old. :P

Your way sounds better, assuming I can find some English muffins, here in England (I suspect they are called some thing different here ;-)

Put in 400 degree oven for 10 - 15 min. 'til just starting to get brown on bottom. Then add topping, spices, cheese, sauce etc. and heat enough to melt cheese. A delicious and fast twist on pizza!
