Owing to its favourable position, Turkey is the bridging nation between the East & West (Europe & Asia) & therefore boasts a spicy blend of oriental & modern, splendor & sleekness, which makes diversity its other name. I've never been to Turkey but I hear it is a great country. So in couple of years I hope I manage to go there. Now I've already purchased a ticket to go to UK, London to be exact and found some great prices for car rental using the car hire uk website, but I am a little worried about driving on the wrong side of the road. Now I know UK people will say we drive on the wrong side of the road.

A country of sun and history, Turkey is located where the three continents making up the old world, Asia, Africa and Europe are closest to each other and straddle the point where Europe and Asia meet. Because of its geographical location, the mainland, Anatolia, has witnessed the mass migration of diverse peoples shaping the course of history. The home to countless civilizations, Anatolia has developed a unique synthesis of cultures, each with its own distinct identity, yet each linked to its predecessors through insoluble treads. As an ancient land and modern nation; Turkey today is both the inheritor and conservator of the common heritage of mankind.

Absolutely mind-boggling lens. So much history and so many things I never knew. I was fascinated that the "Virgin Mary's" house resides in Turkey and is watched over by monks and is a Christian and Muslim Shrine. I have a great devotion to her. Thanks for sharing so much about Turkey. Makes me want to hop on a plane and come there.

    Dear Thalib,

Turkey is vast and there are too many destinations to see. It is very difficult to select a short list but we can easily say that no visitor would want to miss the wonders of great imperial city İstanbul, the azure Aegean and Mediterranean coastlines, ineffable volcanic scenery of Cappadocia, best-known Greaco-Roman archeological site Ephesus and unique nature scenery Pamukkale.

We can easily expand this list but I think above list is a good start point for new comers.
  • Thalib Dec 17, 2008 @ 3:31 am | delete

I already love Turkey... but there is some things here that I didn't know and that are really amazing. These are great "tidbits" of information for people thinking of traveling to Turkey. But Turkey is much more than just this too... the food is just fantastic, the people really really hospitable, and the culture really rich and passionate. There are many many Australians I talk to that love Turkey and/or are fascinated to go. Great site, and good clean design. Maybe try and get some experiences of travelers, their quotes and stories of their Turkish experience. I can't wait to come again. See you soon!!!
