Planning a simple wedding should be easy, right?
Don't be fooled if you think that planning a simple wedding should be an easy undertaking. It can be just as daunting as planning a large wedding. Although things are done much simpler, you still need to perform most of the steps as when planning for a large wedding. Furthermore, you may have to do a lot more research to find the best way to have your wedding at the best prices.
How do I go about planning a simple wedding?
The steps for planning a simple wedding are essentially the same as for planning any wedding. You should sit down with the love of your life and start to write down the important things that need to be done. Then you need to do the following steps:- The first and most vital task to perform is to establish your wedding date. Only then you will know how much time you have left for planning your wedding. The more time you have, the easier and less stressful it is going to be to plan for your wedding.
- Make an initial guest list. This is where you have to be careful, because a large number of guests will make the wedding a lot more complicated and expensive. Be ruthless with the guest list and rather invite only close family and friends.
- Draw up your budget. Make a list of items that needs to be done and that needs to be purchased. Write down the cost down for each item and add up the costs. If you have enough money available to cover the costs, you are very fortunate. If not, you will have to go through the list item-by-item and see where you can cut down to make it fit within your budget.
- Use the list of items that needs to be done and that needs to be purchased and make a timeline from it. Work out which items will require the most amount of time to set up and put them first in the list. Write down a due date next to each of the items on the list. You can now use this wedding planning timeline as a handy guide and checklist for the smooth planning of your wedding.

Tips for planning a simple wedding
The wedding dress: Rather rent a dress than have one made at an extravagant cost. You can also visit the mall department stores, but stay away from the wedding dress department. Look for cocktail dresses, formal dresses or prom dresses that are available on sale.Invitations: Rather print your own invitations than having them done at a print shop. You can get invitation kits from a local store and print them out on your own inkjet printer - and they usually look absolutely professional.
The reception venue: You may have to do a lot of research, but you should be able to find the ideal venue for your budget. First look at the usual reception halls but then proceed to consider places such as museums, historic buildings, botanical gardens, vineyards, art galleries, and zoos (some even have reception halls available.)
The music: Use your iPod or mp3-player with pre-defined playlists and set it up to play through a hi-fi system at the reception.
