Playing through the Blues , Learn how to play Blues lead guitar. My Honest Review

I love to play the Blues, I am not great at it but I can listen to Eric Clapton, Johnny Lee Hooker and Howling Wolf all night.

With its strong rhythms and its great solos it's a style that a lot of budding guitarists would love to be able to play.

To that end I after much research I purchased Playing Through the Blues to try and get Blues lead playing nailed down.

It is produced by a great blues guitar teacher called Griff Hamlin and takes the form of an e-book backed up by loads of audio tracks and over an hour of strait to the point videos taking you through each chapter.

Just to note Griff is adding new audio and videos all the time to this course

Griff view is that the lead guitar should play through the blues rhythm not over it hence the name Playing Through the Blues.

It takes you step by step assuming nothing about your knowledge of blues lead playing. Leading you through.

  • Blues Scale box 1
  • Blues chord progressions
  • Simple blues Rhythm
  • String Bends
  • Hammer on and pull of techniques
  • Basic blues riffs
  • Blues swing playing in triplets
  • Blues Scale box 2
  • Secret to playing great blues
  • Blues scales up the whole fret board
  • Playing in different Keys

What I like about Playing Through the Blues is the way Griff tells you where to stop and make sure you have something down before moving on. If you follow his advice, I know its hard not to skip ahead, you can't help but improve your Blues lead playing.

By the time you work your way through the course you will have 3 great sounding solos under your belt and a mass of blues knowledge to help you make the most out of playing the blues.

What it gives you is the building blocks to creating your own solos on the fly so your can jam and improvise with the best of them.

Playing through the Blues is a great guitar course and matt backs it up with emails and a "Secret" Blog where he answers the any student questions so every one get the benefit.

What's more it's great value at $37 / £20 appox less than the cost of 1 one to one lesson. It comes with the usual money back guaranty but I am sure you will not need it.

I would recommend this, in fact I am, to any one who wants to learn or improve there blues lead guitar
