One factor in the myriad of things taken into consideration when the ps3 was created was the ability to be backwards compatible. In layman's terms that means games created for ps2 can be played on the playstation3 as well. The old ps2 games will never be on the same playing field as ones designed specifically for the ps3, but at least you won't have to part with your classic favorites.

The Sony PlayStation 3 with top of the line graphics and processor speeds that run games extremely smooth. The clarity on games is crisp and sharp. When a game can imitate water so realistically that you get thirsty just looking at it, then that is top notch graphics! The top selling games were definitely considered first. Games such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and popular fighter games work superbly on the ps3.

The lesser games were not so lucky. There were exceptions in the backwards compatibility. It is these exceptions that have left a sour taste in some game player's mouths.

Take the Resistance Fall of Man PS3 game as a great example. This is a one that continuously receives high ratings amongst gamers. Why? The story line is a mixture of history combined with fantasy. You are Sergeant Nathan Hale fighting in WWII against the Chimera, an extraterrestrial race intent on destroying the Earth. The game proceeds through different levels and gives the player the opportunity to fight a plethora of monsters, as well as work their way through the game terrain using different manned vehicles.

The official Sony PlayStation forum gives the game high marks and praises its use of graphics and fighting capabilities. The problems users are reporting are typically related to the lack of save points and the level of default difficulty towards the end of the game. This is where forums come into play. If there is a difficult part you are having trouble traversing and making it to the save point, then look on the board for hints to help you get through the tough parts. Do not look at it like cheating, just getting a little bit of extra help to save your sanity.

Resistance Fall of Man PS3 is worth trying even if you do not like first person shooter games. It has received excellent reviews on the Playstation forum and you can always rent it instead of buying. If you like it, then you will know that not all shooting games are alike. If nothing else, you have given the game a fair chance and can move on to another genre.
